Generation Gap

When you go shopping with your mother, you may find a dress really gorgeous while your mother thinks that's the ugliest dress she has ever seen; when a rock band is about to come, you may become quite excited and eager to go to the concert while your father regards it as a waste of time and money. These are what we called GENERATION GAP. The conception was first promoted by American humanist Margaret Mead in the late 60s, which was defined as the differences in thought and behaviour caused by both body and environment factors between generations. The phenomena are quite common all around the world, and I'd like to pick up some typical types to illustrate.

Generation gap

Generation gap is a common problem in modern society.It is caused by many and varied factors.But I think the main responsibility lies with parents.

父母比我们年龄大，所以无论是生理上还是心理上，都要比我们成熟。父母的经历和经验也比我们丰富，做事也比我们谨慎、周密。所以他们有能力采取适当的措施同子女进行沟通。如果父母 没有做到这些而使自己与子女之间产生“代沟”，那么主要的责任在于父母。

Physically,Parents are older and mature than us.They always do things cautiously and carefully. Besides,they have more experience than we do, therefore they have the ability to take appropriate measures to communicate with their children. If the parents do not do that with their children but choose to keep the generation gap between their children, the main responsibility should lie with parents.

Generation Gap

No one could have failed to notice that the relationship between parents and children has been a vital public topic now.Lack of understanding,parents and kids cannot exchange ideas with each other freely sometimes.we called this situation generation gap.

Why generation gap exists ?Firstly,in my view,differing from parents,children easily face diverse and various information,they are likely to do things on their own.But parents always think they are not right.So conflict and generation gap occur.Secondly,parents and children are born in different time,and they are grow up in nearly two worlds.Thus,generation gap naturally becomes the obstacle between parents and kids due to time.

Nowadays, there is often a lack of understanding between parents and children.Children always complain that their parents are out of date, while parents can’t approve of what their children say and do. Thus, a big generation gap is formed.

Although some generational differences have existed throughout history, because of more rapid cultural change during the modern era differences between the two generations increased in comparison to previous times, particularly with respect to such matters as musical tastes, fashion, culture and politics. This may have been magnified by the unprecedented size of the young generation during the 1960s, which gave it unprecedented power and willingness to rebel against societal norms.

Causes of the Generation Gap

The generation gap has been an ancient issue. Both parents and children report that it is difficult for them to understand each other. With the ever faster pace of change of modern society, the problem is becoming more and more serious.

What are the causes of generation gap? First, the difference in the social background they grow up in surely foster different values and view of life. The society is changing. So are the values and views of life. So long as there are different generations, so long as there are generation gaps. Second, parents and children are at different phases of their lives. The relatively more mature parents and the relatively enterprising children are bound to see things from different standing points.

Nowadays, the problems of generation gap become more and more

serious. The poor relationship between parents and their children is very common. Are these problems caused by the busy parents? Or, do the family rules affect the relationship between parents and children?

Firstly, in most of the families in China both of the parents have to go out for work in order to earn more money to provide better

There is generation gap between parents and kids which becomes a commom phenomenon.This problem makes many parents confused.

After analysing, there are some following reasons.First, modern students like playing.They prefer to go out with friends rather than obey parents' wishes to stay at home. In addition, Chinese education develops slowly so that they can't control themselves well. Finally, they all have rebellious thoughts, they dislike to be restrained so that they will be far away from their parents. For example, if someone ask them to study hard, they will be annoyed. Generation gap

There always has been generation gap since the dawn of civilization. Old people act like a frog in the well. They are fully convinced with their ideas as ultimate and ideal. They ignore certain vital factors that are no longer valid in modern days.

There is a great hue and cry raised by the elders and the young both that the communication between them has broken down and they accuse each other for and bemoan this state of affairs. They attribute it to generation gap. Majority in the society carries along with this moroseness and never pauses to think the why and how of the problem.
