20xx年4月8日，英国当地时间早晨,一位赫赫有名的英国政治家因中风溘然长辞,享年87岁。她是担任英国首相的第一位女性，也是英国150多年来在位时间最长的首相。她就是有铁娘子之称的撒切尔夫人。

撒切尔夫人身上有太多争议和传奇。如果没有她，今天的英国很可能是另一番模样。昔日的铁娘子给今天的英国留下了什么政治遗产？站在中国的角度，我们如何评价这位影响一个时代的政治家？

19xx年10月13日,命运选择让玛格丽特·撒切尔降生在英格兰小镇的杂货店里，她却从这里一路走到了位于伦敦唐宁街10号的英国权力中枢。这在贵族政治或男性民主根深蒂固的英国，本身就是一场革命。她三次蝉联首相，任期长达11年之久。她还是英国历史上第一个将其推行的政策冠以自己名字(“撒切尔主义”和“撒切尔革命”)的首相。时至今日，不少英国人仍然感到，他们的生活和这个深居简出的老妇人息息相关——她仍然影响着这个国家。

First, may I thank you for giving me the opportunity to return to Bruges and in very different circumstances from my last visit shortly after the Zeebrugge Ferry disaster, when Belgian courage and the devotion of your doctors and nurses saved so many British lives.

邓小平(寸步不让，他毫不含糊地指出):“中国在这个问题上没有回旋余地。坦率地讲，主权不是一个可以讨论的问题。现在时机已经成熟，应该明确肯定:19xx年中国将收回香港。就是说，中国要收回的不仅是新界，而且包括香港岛、九龙。”

收回香港，是全中国人民乃至全世界人民的意愿。如果19xx年不收回香港，任何一个中国领导人和政府都无法向中国人民交代，甚至也不能向世界人民交代。“如果不收回，就意味着中国政府是晚清政府，中国领导人是李鸿章！”

撒切尔夫人:香港的繁荣是离不开英国的管理。

邓小平说:“保持香港的繁荣，我们希望取得英国的合作，但这不是说，香港继续保持繁荣必须在英国的管辖之下才能实现。香港继续保持繁荣，根本上取决于中国收回香港后，在中国的管辖之下，实行适合于香港的政策。” (撒切尔夫人): 将来管理不好,香港会乱的。

(邓小平):这是我们预料中的事情。我们有思想准备, 何况中国有权派军队武力收回香港。

(撒切尔夫人):如果这样,将会带来灾难性的影响。

(邓小平):如果会像夫人说的“带来灾难性的影响”,那我们要勇敢地面对这个灾难，作出决策。”

Thank you for your kind words, Mr. Premier. I am a doubly privileged visitor. Not only is this the second time in five years that I have visited china to enjoy your warm and generous hospitality, but I find to my astonishment that I am the first British Prime Minster in office to do so. This does not mean that we have been neglectful of China. The stream of high-level visitors in both directions testifies to that. Nevertheless, it is an omission which I am proud to be able to rectify and I hope my presence here tonight is further proof of the importance we in Britain attach to relations with your great country.
