The Truman Show was be on 1998, and the director is Peter Weir. It is a very classic film.

In this film, Truman’s life was made into a reality TV show. Even his parents, wife and friends were actors. Finally, he realized it and succeeded in leaving the style of life.

For one thing, the story is not only different but also very novel. It seems strange and misty at the beginning, which carries a foreshadowing of what is to follow later on in this story. Who is Truman and what is going to tell us? However when we know what happened to Truman, we are shocked by that creative spot. Then we are wandering what his pursuit for. The director seizes we audiences’ curiosity perfectly. For another, its language is very humorous. For example, ”Good morning! And in case I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night! ” .

My thought about Truman

All the people can know about Truman, such as his life. For 10,909 days, it has been on the air, using more than 5000 cameras to show every moment in every day of the life of him. But unfortunately, it is he that didn’t know. Around the world, everyday there were millions of people watching his life which had already been set. I thought it may be terribly sorrowful of him to accept such a truth. Thus he got mad, and nothing can hold back his heart for freedom.

We know his name is Truman, which stands for truth. But his life is full of falsehood.No one told him that until he finally got it.The director said, the life in the island is the truth. Truman used his action to prove it a lie, a total lie. Freedom is the thing that exceeds everything in the world, nothing can be in place of it. Of course, if he chose to live in the island, he can be original pop star, he can get many things comfortably. Yet as a bird, we choose to fly in the sky. As a man, we also need to our own sky. The movie might tell us this moral. Although Truman was born to be a man losing freedom, he was still a man. His option is himself, not making fun of others.

，After watching 《The Truman Show》 what impressed me most is

the ugly behaviors in the process of commercialization of mass media which is self seeking and trample human rights. When Truman is only a fetus ,the Reality show has already began . Daily life exposure in the perspective of the people, so do not we ? They just do not put the camera before us .The let us can’t help asking ourselves :”Maybe everyone around me is in a play” “Is my life also in surveillance ,I have lacked of the privacy”

Summary:

Truman Burbank, the lead of the movie, was born in front of a live audience. He lived in a world with thousands of cameras. All people can watch his life by TV anytime. Because of a girl and some coincidence, he realized the world he lived in is false and the people live in the city cheat him. He decided to leave the small city. The director tried to prevent Truman, but he had to accept the failure. At last, Truman talked with the director and left the city.

I am moved deeply after I have watched the Truman show. It makes me reflect on something I have never thought before.

Truman was a leading role in his own world unconsciously. He lived in that peaceful world ,happy and carefree. But it was not so watery as it looks like. His life was controlled by director.Life to him was true but under arrangement.

All Truman did would be completely shown on TV. People knew everything he did，such as how he was born, went to school, got a job，got married and so on. Everyone around him were all performers. Truman’s life is absolutely a vast lie. Gradually,however,he began to feel strange and caught something unusual.He tried to find out the truth.The director set many difficulties,Finally,nevertheless,he overcomed them and went into the true world.

I feel deeply after I watch Truman show. It makes me think about our life and media Truman is a leading role in his own world unconsciously. He lives in that peaceful world out of willingness. Do the creature that others pay attention to. His own life is control by director. Life to him is real but fake.

Truman’s life is completely open to the mass. People knew everything he does，such as how he was born, went to school, got a job，got married and so on. They are witness of Truman’s life .Everyone live together with him are all performers. Everything they do is in the director’s arrangement. His wife, who is claimed herself a doctor, is not a doctor at all. His father, who was died in a storm, is still alive. All performers are supposed to be cheat. Truman’s life is absolutely a vast lie. But when you know your life is rally a lie, do you have to courage to expose it? Will you choose to give up your peaceful life under control rather than to be the leading role of your show? Not everyone has the courage to go out. May be you will say: “It is easy to go out.” But we can’t understand, predict and control the outside world, can you?

An Unwritten Life

After finished watching the film, my feeling was complicated. It made me think about a serial of things such as the culture differences between Han ethnic group and others, the life we may choose in the rest of our life, etc.
