其主要内容包括：

(1)邀请方。具有邀请资格的境外机构或人员。邀请函上要有邀请人单位的准确地址、电话、传真、电子邮件，有些国家使领馆规定邀请函传真要从本土发出。

(2)人员名单。邀请函上一般须注明团组人数，以及成员姓名、性别、护照号码、出生日期、工作单位和职务。

(3)访问目的及日程。有与邀请方业务相关的、明确的访问目的并附详细访问日程。

(4)停留时间。说明拟在出访国家的具体停留时段和天数。

(5)费用来源。要注明出访费用由何方承担。如外方承担全部或部分费用应予注明。同时，要在邀请信函中说明被邀请人在境外的保险事项等。邀请函上要有境外邀请单位的徽标、公司标识，要使用正规公文用纸。

对于申请加拿大探亲签证的中国公民，是有相关规定的。能够获得探亲签证的中国公民包括:

1. 申请签证的公民的配偶，在加拿大定居、工作、学习、访问等。

2. 申请签证的公民自己或者配偶的下列亲属在加拿大定居、工作、学习、访问等：

1）父母(包括养父母)、子女(包括养子女)及兄弟姐妹。

2）祖父母或孙子女。

3）旁系亲属如叔伯、堂兄弟姐妹、表兄弟姐妹以及姑亲、姨亲、舅亲者(但是签证率相对直系亲属较低)。

如果孩子在加拿大留学，家长在以下情况下容易获签：

1）在探亲签证容易获签的月份申请，即每年的10月到次年的2月；

2）有充足的探亲理由(孩子离开自己至少3个月或半年以上)；

3）国内有稳定的亲友工作或事业(即约束自己回国的理由越充分越好)；

4）无加拿大拒签史。

不少申请人认为，自已在中国的条件很好，去加拿大只是看望一下家人，根本没有移民或滞留加拿大的倾向或想法。但是，申请人需要明白的是，申请加拿大签证是没有面试的，申请人是没有机会与签证官面对面的沟通。签证官只是从申请人所递交的材料当中来判断申请人是否有足够的经济能力来支付去加拿大旅游的费用，申请人是否有足够的原因在旅游结束后会回到中国。所以准备好充足的申请材料，并让签证官在最短的时间内对申请人的条件有一个很快、很好的判断是非常关键的。
