动时所发的约请性书信。在国际交往以及日常的各种社交活
动中，这类书信使用广泛。
邀请信分为两种：一种是正规的格式 (formal correspondence)，也叫做请柬;一种是非正规格式(informal correspondence)，就是一般的邀请信。
请柬通常有固定的格式，应注意文字排列精心设计，一般以一个或两个完整的意群为一行。一般用第三人称形式写作。

第十三届“外研社杯”全国英语辩论赛邀请函
“外研社杯”全国英语辩论赛是由外语教学与研究出版社（FLTRP）主办，剑桥大学出版社（CUP）和国际辩论教育协会（IDEA）联合主办，中国英语教学研究会（CELEA）、英语口语联盟（ESU）、《英语学习》杂志协办的国内水平最高、影响最大的全国性英语辩论比赛。该项赛事自1997年以来每年举办一届，第十三届“外研社杯”全国英语辩论赛兹定于20##年5月9日至5月16日在北京外研社国际会议中心举行，敬请贵校届时组队参加。
为协助各参赛学校选拔出优秀选手代表各校参赛，充分展现各校选手风采，提高比赛水平，大赛组委会要求各校开展全校范围内的选拔赛，成立英语辩论社团；全校选拔赛达到一定规模的学校将会得到外研社提供的奖品支持。
