英语专业四级作文范文

范文1:论人生态度

Just as is revealed in the pictures above, people are generally classified into two types: the pessimistic and the optimistic. We can see in one picture some people, long-faced and downhearted, are counting the nights by the shadows while in the other picture the happy-go-lucky people are enjoying the starry nights. What a contrastive view! Remember, it is not the bad thing that determines our state of mind but the way we look at it matters. (描述点题段) (以小到大)

An example that comes to mind is SARS crisis that has recently torn apart and ravaged most of China. Admittedly, it has cost us quite a lot. Some people suffered from health damage and still some even lost their lives. And our economy suffers a temporary setback and a slowdown. However, we still have learnt and benefited a lot from it. (举例说明段) 4. First things first, we are more concerned than never before with our health, and the environment we live in. Additionally, we tried and bettered and are still bettering our mechanism to respond to unexpected crises. These and other lessons at the expense of blood, tear, toil and sweat are benefiting and continue to benefit us and generations of Chinese to come. (分析问题段)

The best way to overcome the frustrations brought about crises is to always take a positive outlook on life. Just as a well-known ancient Chinese notion goes, the past lessons if not forgotten are good teachers for us all. If we can bear in mind sufferings and ordeals we have experienced, then our sufferings will not go unrewarded. (前瞻感言段)

范文2. 论学术腐败

The picture symbolically depicts how some people who call themselves “scholars” are doing their research. Instead of writing their own research papers, they resort to copying each other’s works. Looking at the picture, we cannot but worry about the problem of intellectual honesty—an issue vital to the healthy development of our science and technology cause.

Suppose that every scientist or researcher does not do experiments, but plagiarize others’ research results, then what would happen? There would be no intellectual honesty and people would no longer believe what the scientists say. Since scientists are noble elites of society, if their words are incredible, then the credibility of the whole society would deteriorate and collapse.

Therefore, intellectual credibility is not something that we can afford to lose or leave it at large. We each individual should start from right here and now, and attach great value and importance to the urgency of the issue. It is time that drastic measures were taken by the authorities to change the situation. 范文3. 论贫富 (论和谐社会)

As we can see from the picture, a weary-looking woman, with her little sleeping son clung to her back, is cleaning and polishing shoes for a well-dressed lady. The dressy lady is also with his son, a boy, high-flying, fashionably-dressed, apparently from a well-to-do family. The picture is heart-rending-- a dramatic view of the widening gap between rich and poor in our nation.

Although a lot of efforts have been put into bridging the gap, the situation is far from optimistic. Take the uneven development of our nation for example. On one side of the picture, some people in the developed areas of country are enjoying almost everything that modern civilization can offer---- luxury cars, expensive houses and other devices for comfortable life. The other side of the picture is that in some underdeveloped areas, a lot of people are still living in sheer poverty. They do not have the minimal means of living, even no money for the education of the young. Looking at all these, how can we stay aloof and easy?

Our nation is building up a harmonious society. If we don’t do something to harmonize the situation by achieving common welfare for all the people, how can we accomplish that noble goal? As a famous

man put it, “If we can not help the many who are poor, then we can not save the few who are rich.” Effective measures need to be taken to help the poor so that we can work towards a harmonious nation where the rich is just and the poor secure.

范文4. 论文明礼貌“遵守规则”

This is not an uncommon picture in our life: there are many occasions in which so many people don’t abide by the rules. What picture above intends to convey is a typical example. As we can see form it, instead of waiting in the line and behaving themselves, some young people are deliberately shoving and pushing among throngs of passengers. They make troubles and create chaos, causing damages to the public property, as we see it----the bus door already turned loose.

Our nation takes pride in having a fine tradition of civility and respect and politeness. This and other negative pictures are running against such a tradition and do a lot harm to society. Not only the rule of law and order but also normal life can be affected and damaged. And worse still, young children might regard these people as examples and follow suit. And this moral loss is far-reaching and irrevocable (beyond repair).

All the members of the society abiding by the rules can solve the depressing problem altogether. If each of us complies with the rules, our nation can build up a more positive image. Thus, we can pave the way to a society of civility, compassion, courage and character.

范文5. 论“上网”

The picture describes a prevailing phenomenon—young teens’ addiction to net-surfing. We can see that in the picture the young boy is totally absorbed in what is in the net to the exclusion of all the other things. Judging from his weary face, we can infer he must have been on line for a long time. Looking at this, we can not help feeling rather discouraged and concerned.

Admittedly, internet provides us with information, convenience and sometimes excitements if we can put it into proper uses. And people have accomplished a lot with the help of this modern invention. However, as every coin has two sides, so does internet. Depending on how we use it, it can be both beneficial and detrimental. If we fail to make appropriate use of it, troubles will occur. Teens are not able to concentrate on their studies once they are addicted to internet and as result their studies will turn to frustrations and failures. Such phenomena as playing truants and dropping out of school after being addicted to websites are already commonplace. And some even resort to violence and crime because of the influence of unhealthy content of some illegal sites.

Teens’ abuse of, and addiction to net-surfing is already a grave problem. This is something we can choose not to see but we cannot choose not to know. People from all walks of life should turn their attention to the situation and come up with some good ideas to cope with it. It is time for us to do something to provide our children with a wholesome climate so that they can grow up healthy and strong 范文6. 论“浪费现象

Mankind is wasting things everywhere and every day. (推1)As we can see from the pictures, wherever we turn, we can see that paper, bottles and cans are thrown away; food is wasted just because of its poor taste; clothes are discarded simply due to their old fashion. (推2)Not only consumer goods and money are wasted, but natural resources are abused as well. (推2-1)Trees are cut down merely for fuel; (推2-2) wildlife is killed simply for food, and (推2-3)oil, coal and minerals are exploited in a bad way. Wasting time is even worse. Many people tend to spend their time on worthless things, such as (推

1) wandering about in the street, (推2) gossiping in the office, or (推3)sleeping too much during the day. As we know, time is so precious to us that it passes by and (推)never returns. (推)The waste of time equals to the waste of life.

It is time to stop wasting. On the one hand, we must save natural resources and(推) make full use of them; otherwise human beings will be faced with the scarcity of natural resources and (推)suffer from the pollution caused by wastes. On the other hand, we must treasure our time. (推)Only with our time devoted to some worthy cause will we not regret the life we have had.

范文7. 论环保(I)

This is a pathetic and heart-rending scene! In the picture given, a bird, cold and hungry, is squatting on a branch of a lonely tree, overlooking the desolation of trunks left after trees were cut down. The bird seems to be asking herself, “Where is my homeland?” No one can look at this picture without helping thinking. Who has deprived the bird of her right to have a home? Of course, we humans are to blame. We are so development-oriented that we almost can sacrifice whatever natural resources in order to obtain a little material gain. It so happens that we cut trees to clear land for farming and level up a lake to build houses. The result of so doing and other destructive developments is deforestation and uncontrollable desertification, thus driving the wild animals homeless like the scene we see above. This mode of progress is no doubt short-sighted and detrimental in the long run.

Some of the harsh lessons we need to learn: first, we should respect the nature and other animals’ rights to survive. Second, we must waste no natural resources and possibly develop alternative forms of energy to replace the decreasing natural resources. Only in this way can we strike a sustainable development of the world.

In the picture above we see a man, coat and tie, holding in his left hand a fork and in his right hand a knife, is having his delicious dinner. He appears self-content and has a good appetite. In his plates, we find wild life cooked. Looking at this, one cannot but grow sad and feel strongly about the man’s taste. It is just disgusting!

Some people are not fully aware of the importance of wild life protection and hunt and eat wild animals and cause more and more species to be near the brink of distinction. And effect of so doing is appalling and deadly. Thus, we sometimes hear such a story. In a certain area, villagers captured all the wild woofs for their fur and meat. As a result, the ecological balance was disturbed, and hares were reproduced by millions due to the absence of woofs’ effective control of the number of the hares. Consequently, the farmers suffered heavy crop loss in the row of 5 years because of the increase in the crop consumption by the hares. If we disturb the delicate balance, nature will revenge on us.

We should, therefore, learn the lesson. Wild animals are our great friends and need our care and studies. If we protect and love our friends, we are, to some extent, protecting our life tomorrow and the life of our children

范文8. 论 “一分为二” 有阳光的地方就有阴影 Where there is sunshine, there is shadow.

There has been a discussion recently in the newspaper about a picture——a young tree growing well, yet with a long shadow under it, in the warm sunshine. Simply designed, as it is, the symbolic meaning the picture conveys is profound and thought-provoking. Just as the picture shows, where there is sunlight, there is shadow.

A specific example is the economic development and the environmental problem. Developing at a high speed, Chinese economy really admitted much sunshine to the welfare of our nation and the livelihood of the people. However, it also casts its shadow on our road——it has much negative effect on the natural environment. Therefore, we are heading for a variety of human environmental disasters if nothing is done to change the course.

As for the best way to get rid of the shadow of the environmental disasters, the picture, I think, can give us a big hand. With more and more people, including government officials, attaching importance to the problem and much research work done to it, a new way ——the sustainable development——is to be adopted. That is, economic growth should meet the needs of the present without undermining the ability of the future generations to meet their needs. Only by doing so, can we kill two birds with one stone? II、范文9:文字说明类

The saying “No pains, no gains” is almost universally accepted because of the plain yet philosophical moral it teaches: if one wants to achieve something, he has to work harder and tolerate more than others. The saying is true of any pursuit man seeks. Whatever one wishes to accomplish, he has to exert himself to forge ahead, for nobody can expect anything for nothing.

A case in point is boxing. While we heap cheers on the winner, how many happen to realize that his gold belt is won at the cost of his sweat, tears, blood over years and sometimes even at threat of his life before the arrival of that exciting moment? Whatever worthy we do, wherever we are, we should bear in mind: never expect anything for nothing. Success does not bother to visit the one who does not, bit by bit, prepare for it. Success and good fortune are always trying to find the best prepared. The plain truth of the saying is also expressed in such famous sayings as “If we want light, then we must first conquer darkness.” and “Failure is the mother of success.” signaling that efforts and hard work always come before success. By and large, if we are determined to accomplish anything worthy, we should convince ourselves that “Never dream of gains without pains, and we should learn to give before getting.” II、范文10:图表类

The two pictures about a child’s school calendar reveal the shift of education orientation, Compared with 1995, School children in 2000 are having more quality building activities than exams. The realization of the importance of students’ quality makes all the differences.

The pictures are drawn to warn people against the worse scenario if students take too many exams. If exams have the final say over students’ performance, students will know only how to answer test questions. But academic credits are only a small part of education assessment. When students start working, their skills in communication, in solving real problems and in originally and independently dealing with the world are essential factors for their success. Let exams dominate the school calendar, the education pattern will be self-propagating, nobody knowing what and why they learn.

But we still have reasons to be optimistic. Education administrations could try to plan the quality-oriented education in schools. If text books are accordingly changed and teachers trained, children tomorrow will certainly be creative instead of copycats.

小作文 范文12:A Report(报告)Dear Sir,

Last week, we wrote you a report applying to buy a new printer. This is to remind you of the urgency of our need.

As we said in our last report, there has been a sudden increase in our correspondences with foreign colleges and universities. Our printer, old and unusable, can not meet the increased demand. Therefore, we were applying for a new one.

We hope that you can furnish us with it as soon as possible, so that our work will not be further delayed. Thank you for the trouble.

Yours sincerely, Director Li

Ambition is the decision one makes and the resolution with which he carries out that decision. It provides us with the required driving force to accomplish any undertakings in our life. Just as Joseph Epstein, a famous American writer put it, “And as we decide and choose, so are our lives formed.” Indeed, once we make up our minds to choose to do something, then our life becomes meaningful and specifically orientated. This notion of life, as far as I observe, is closest to truth and does apply to almost all aspects of life.

First things first, ambition renders us a sense of mission. No matter what decision you make you have to be responsible for your choice. Your choice procures you a sense of orientation, or more specially a sense of mission. And only a strong mission may enable one to accomplish greatness. Caesar of the ancient Roman Empire was urged by his ambition “I came, I saw, I conquered.” And became an unrivaled empire builder in the history of Rome. John Milton, stimulated always by his ambition that aimed at writing some “mighty lines” which England would unwillingly forget, had in due time secured his position as the second Shakespeare in the history of English literature. In the second place, ambition can bring one’s potentials to the full. Ambition may well serve as a catalyst activating one’s dormant potentials. Without ambition one’s potentials will remain slumbering like a dormant volcano. A case in point is Ms Zhang Haidi, a Chinese Helen Keller. It was her ambition to be a useful person has turned the almost paralyzed Zhang Haidi into a well-accomplished figure whose achievements would dwarf those of some normal people aim at the sun, though, at worst, they may probably land on the moon. Influential as it is upon us, however, ambition must be channeled in the right direction. If wrongly directed, one’s ambition may bring havoc on him and others. Hitler, whose ambition was to conquer Europe by whatever evil means, finally turned him into a demon. It was this demon that almost cast Europe into an unfathomable abyss of anguish and suffering. Another case is Macbeth whose ambition was to become the king of Scotland. However, his ambition was materialized by the murder of King Duncan. Consequently, unbearable guilt and psychological agony drove him to his tragic doom

To sum up, ambition can benefit us tremendously if wisely and correctly channeled, otherwise it may ruin others and ourselves. A poet says: life can be bad; life can be good; life can be dirty; life can be sad,; life can even be painful. In my mind’s eye, a person can make his life beautiful, meaningful and rewarding and stand out as a respectable personage if he is motivated by a well-orientated ambition.
