Electricity and Our Life

Since its invention, electricity has found wide applications in industry, agriculture and scientific research. It is so essential to our daily life that , without electricity…we would not enjoy modern comforts because home appliances would not work. Without electricity….,

we could not cook food, wash clothes and watch TV.

Generally speaking, there are three ways to save electricity…. First, we should produce electricity-saving home appliances. Second, remember to turn off the light when you leave a room. Finally, we should change our way of life to choose a low-carbon life. Avoid as

much as possible the “artificial life” powered by electricity.

Competition and cooperation

Competition is now a common phenomenon in our society. We compete when we play games, we try to do better than others in our study, and we often compete for jobs, customers, money, and so on so forth. To some extent, we can say, competition is an

important motive force of our life.

We often find competition and cooperation occurring at the same time. For example, during a football game, one team is competing with the other, but each member of the team must cooperate with his teammates. In most cases, we can’t compete without cooperation. Therefore, competition and cooperation are equally important in our life. While we are advocating competition, we can’t forget cooperation. In modern society, cooperation plays a very important part, because most work is finished with and through other people. So we must combine competition with cooperation in order to reach the

“double win” goals successfully.

? How Will Our Life Go on without Internet?

If asked whether the Internet is the greatest discovery of the 20th century, my answer would be yes. The Internet has drawn the world closer together, realized countless incredible dreams,

and provided modern people with a great many conveniences and a brilliant life.

Today, many people simply feel they cannot live without the Internet. Governments publish their latest policies and decisions online for worldwide recognition. Political campaigns are often done online to gain wider public support. Companies and enterprises resort to the Internet for more business opportunities and potential customers home and abroad. Universities and researchers turn to the Internet if they’d seek international cooperation or funding. Common folks like us also rely on the cyber world in various ways, for communication, entertainment, banking

and shopping.

The power of the Internet is all pervasive, yet its many negative effects are already visible. For example, Internet addicts tend to withdraw to their own fantasy world rather than

communicate with a real person. Children are exposed to online pornography and violence. Internet frauds are an everyday occurrence. In view of all this, you are advised to use the Internet

with wisdom. Keep it at a safe distance and never lose yourself.

As a primary source of information as well as an efficient means of communication, the Internet offers people a colourful and convenient life. Just by clicking the mouse, we can enjoy a brilliant and easy life that could not be achieved ever before: shopping, making friends, contacting

relatives, looking for jobs, downloading music and movies, conducting business deals, and freely

airing our opinions.

For its convenience, the Internet has attracted people like magnets and some people even claim that it is indispensable. To them, life can’t go on without it. Every day millions of people spend hours on end surfing the Internet. They are obsessed with it so much that they forget many

other important matters.

As for me, I don’t approve of unrestrained Internet reliance. Although the Internet is a gift of the technological revolution and a blessing of this information age, we should never let it control our life. The Internet absolutely doesn’t mean the whole world to us. Instead, we should guard against its negative effects. To those Internet addicts, I would add: Self-control can make or break

your life. With proper use, the Internet serves you; otherwise, it kills you.

Protection of Environment

There are still many problems of environmental protection in recent years. One of the most serious problems is the serious pollution of air, water and soil. the polluted air does great harm to people’s health. The polluted water causes diseases and death. What is more, vegetation had been greatly reduced with the rapid growth of modern cities. To protect the environment, governments of many countries have done a lot. Legislative

steps have been introduced to control air pollution, to protect the forest and sea resources and to stop any environmental pollution. Therefore, governments are playing

the most important role in the environmental protection today.

In my opinion, to protect environment, the government must take even more concrete measures. First, it should let people fully realize the importance of environmental protection through education. Second, much more efforts should be made to put the population planning policy into practice, because more people means more people means more pollution. Finally, those who destroy the environment intentionally should be

severely punished. We should let them know that destroying environment means

destroying mankind themselves.

Protecting the Environment

Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over the world. For example, cars have made the air unhealthy for people to breathe and poisonous gas is given off by factories. Trees on the hills have been cut down and waste water is being poured continuously into rivers. Furthermore, wherever we go today, we can find rubbish carelessly disposed. Pollution is, in fact, threatening our existence.

The earth is our home and we have the duty to take care of it for ourselves and for our later generations. Fortunately, more and more people have realized these problems. Measures have been taken to cope with these problems by the government. Laws have been passed to stop pollution. I hope the problem will be solved in the near future and our home will become better and better.

Environmental problems are becoming more and more serious all over the world. With the development of industry and agriculture, cars make great noises and give off

poisonous gas. Trees on the hills have been cut down, and waste water is being poured continuously in to rivers. Furthermore, wherever we go today, we can find rubbish carelessly disposed. The whole ecological balance of the earth is changing. Massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man's existence.

We must face the situation that exists and take actions to solve our environmental problems. For instance, new laws must be passed to place strict control over industrial pollution, the public must receive the education about the hazard of pollution and soon. We hope that all these measures will be effective and bring back a healthful

environment.

C. Your composition should

be based on the Outline given in Chinese below:

Global Shortage of Fresh Water

People often think that water will never be used up. There is plenty of water, such as rain, water from the rivers and wells. It seems as if water is always available around us and we never have to worry about water shortage.

In fact water is rather limited on the earth. With the rapid increase of population and fast development of industries, water is more needed than before. At the same time, a large amount of water has been polluted and wasted every day. Some big cities in China are facing the problem of water shorage already. There, water supply is controlled and industry has been restrained.

What should we do about the water shorage? I think, first, the people should be made aware of the real situation about the water. Everyone should consciously save on water and certain law should be made that no water will be polluted. We have to protect the existing water resources and develop new ones. In this way I believe that our cities will not be thirsty for water in the future.

A、Title: Private Cars in China

B、You should write an essay on the outline below in no less than 150 words.

C、Your composition should be based on the Outline given in Chinese below:

Private Cars in China

Private cars,in most developed countries, used to be the counterpart of bicycles in China. Nevertheless, more and more Chinese people have cars of their own nowadays. It is an indication of the lifted living standard of Chinese people. But in my opinion, private

ownership of cars should not be encouraged in China.

There are sound reasons for the limitation of private cars in China. First,it is self evident that the automobile contributes much to air pollution. In China, especially in large cities whose residents are more likely to buy private cars, the pollution of the air is already very serious. More private cars will inevitably aggravate the present situation. Second, private cars can be a formidable threat to the traffic. To tell the truth, today many people can afford a car,if a large number of private cars rush onto the streets, the already dense traffic will suffer more. Last but not the least, the automobile consumes energy. We always proudly claim our country is rich in natural resources. But in the mean time,we need to remember we also have a large population. We do have rich resources of energy, but

speaking of energy,we can not smile with ease.

Therefore,I sincerely believe that private cars should be discouraged in China. Then,by what means shall we limit private cars?Since people buy private cars mainly for convenience,my first suggestion is to develop adequate public transportation which is effective and punctual. At the same time,we should raise the price of gasoline to a prohibitive level so as to make car-driving expensive enough. All in all, private cars, from

my point of view, should be limited in China.

范文2

Outline:

1)Advantages of owning a private car.

2)Disadvantages of owning a private car.

3)Should it be necessary to enlarge the private car market? Why or why not?

Nowadays, any Chinese can enjoy the luxury of owning a private car - if he or she can afford it. Having a car of your own means no more traveling to work on crowded buses or subway trains, and you can drop off the children at school on the way. Moreover, it also means that you can enjoy the weekends and holidays better, because with a car you can go to places where the regular buses and trains do not go, and so you can find a quiet

scenic spot with no crowds.

However, there are drawbacks to owning a car. For one thing, with the increase in car ownership in recent years, the roads are becoming more and more crowded, often making

the journey to work more of a nightmare than a dream. For another, it is not cheap to run a car, as the prices of gasoline and repairs are constantly rising, not to mention the prices

you have to pay for a licence and insurance coverage.

Having considered both sides of the argument, I have come to the conclusion that the advantages of owning a car outweigh the disadvantages. Therefore, it seems to me that China should increase its output of automobiles and enlarge the private car market. The result would be that cars would become cheaper, while at the same time the extra demand would encourage the auto industry to produce more efficient and family-oriented

vehicles.

范文3

Private Cars

With the increase in the general standard of living, some ordinary Chinese families begin to afford a car. Yet opinions of the development of a private car vary from person to

person.

It gives a much greater degree of comfort and mobility. The owner of a car is no longer forced to reply on public transport, and hence no irritation caused by waiting for buses or taxis. However, others strongly object to developing private cars. They maintain that as more and more cars are produced and run in the street, a large volume of poisonous gas will be given off, polluting the atmosphere and causing actual hamp3 to the health of

people.

Whether private cars should be developed in Chicago is a difficult question to answer, yet the desire for the comfort and independence a private car can bring will not be eliminated.

范文4

Possessing a Private Car or Not

There is no denying that our modern society is moving on four wheels. Owning a private car is a great thing. It makes going out more convenient and comfortable. But if my family

has the plan to purchase a private car, to be frank, I will say “No”.

To begin with, possessing a private car is really a financial burden for the average families. As to my family, my parents are both teachers, purchasing a private car maybe beyond our financial ability. Not only the car itself is too expensive to afford, but also the cost of maintenance is too high. Although the convenience and mobility of a private car badly attract me, I will repress this desire when I think about the heavy loan that the wonderful

thing may bring us.

What’s more, a private car is not good for my family members’ health and safety. The terrible noise and harmful gas that we must be exposed to every day undoubtedly do harm to our hearing and respiratory organs. And driving an automobile is a very demanding job.

I will express my sincere sympathy for my dear father ― the only driver in my family if we

really purchase a car.

The last but not the least, I would like to show my opinion from a higher perspective. Just imagine that if every family has a private car, what problems may this give rise to? The traffic accidents, energy crisis, noise and air pollution, congested parking and crowded streets will all become more serious social problems that give threat to people’s peaceful lives. In addition, the popularization of private cars may lead people to a luxurious and

lazy life.

In conclusion, though there are many favorable aspects to attract people to possess private cars, as far as my family is concerned, I don’t think it is very necessary and useful

Traveling

People who like traveling have their reasons. They maintain that traveling can help them expand there scope of knowledge, especially geographical and historical learning. They go on to point out that touring will provide more chance for them to enjoy food and try on

clothes that they otherwise can not possibly have.

Those, however, who dislike traveling have different opinions, they would argue that traveling means a considerable amount of money and energy . for example, traffic and

accommodation require money and walking while seeing sights often tires you . In practice traveling offers more enjoyment than suffering .if your finance and health permit, you might as well do some traveling from time to time. It will at least enable you to

get familiar with people and things that you will probably grow to like and love.
