Honesty is a commodity in our society. It is a common sense that being honest, or telling the truth, is a basic behavior to show your respect and consideration to others. But some argue that always telling the truth also create an opportunities to offence others. For me, I think while we are dealing with whatever kinds of relationship, honesty is the most important consideration.
Cooperation cannot stand upon dishonesty. Businessman, for example, should tell customers the truth. A case that before customer purchasing, the merchant spares no effort to tell them that how cheap, how useful their products are and all of this turns out to be a lie when the customer realizes what he has bought is just a counterfeit is very common in our daily life. this kind of business usually ends up in bankrupt(不知道这里end up 用的对不对) because nobody trusts them any more. honesty is the first thing to be considered in cooperation because not only does telling the truth represent the company’s responsibility to its products, but also show his respect to other companies or investors.
The importance of telling the truth can also be seen in the
relationship between the doctors and patients. Since most of the patients have known little about medicine, it is very danger for the patients if the doctor lies to them. The doctor might deliberately increase the medical expense or tell the patient that the illness he gets is hard to cure. Those dishonesty behaviors contribute to nothing but provoking the conflict between the doctors and patients. The only way to avert the conflict is establishing a mutual trust in which patient recovers more quickly and doctor earns more respect.
Admittedly, always telling the truth sometimes will offence other people. That people would tell a white lie to others is common in our life. For instance, we will not freely express our feeling when our friend wears a new dress and asks you if it is a worthy buy. But basic honest still should be considered above all in any relationship. If friends cannot trust each other, how can they sustain their friendship?
To conclude, honesty is the most significant consideration in relationship. Only when people trust each other can they cooperate, understand each other and avoid conflicts.
