Mary Lou Robertson who is only thirteen becomes an experienced bird-watcher.She is so knowledgeable about birds that she has written a children’s book about them.

Moving into a new neighborhood,she felt kind of lonely.Watching birds making her feel more at home.

Every morning she go outdoors to look for birds by binoculars.She says that one should be quiet and calm to watch birds. And she is expert at identifying different types of birds.

Her mother,Mary Ellen,is pleased with the hobby which seemed more than just a casual interest when it started.

When Mary Lou was in the sixth grade,she first became involved in bird-watching.To finish a homework,she decided to write an article about mockingbird which was the beginning of her writing adventure.

Mary Lou often observes various birds closely.Many birds are easy to identify,but she also has new birds to identify and new lessons to learn.

When Mary Lou was writing her book,she searched the Internet,drew and painted some birds for the book which took her nine months to finish it.

Proud of the book,Mary Ellen thinks highly of her daughter’s achievement.Mary Ellen explains that her daughter gave the bird a

personality to attract more children.The book is beautifully illustrated and easy to read.Besides,it is educational.

Through watching birds,Mary Lou gains a lot and she will keep curious about learning new things in the future.
