white fang读书笔记

Book Report of White Fang

White fang, written by Jack London, is about a wolf cub making its way in the world and the book describes how this cub learns things and sees things.

This cub is called white fang, because at first the cub’s teeth is white. The cub’s growing path is like a child grows up, the path is full of pains and sorrows, little of happiness. He is a gray wolf born by Kiche and One Eye. He has a lot of challenges after his mother is taken from him when he was just a puppy. He has to deal with people that never show him affections, to cruel people who hurt him. Finally, he finds someone who loves him indeed and treats him good and takes care of him, but he really suffered a lot before he gets that life. After introducing the story of this book, then I will briefly tell about his curiousness to the unknown and some reflection of this.

Like everybody in their youth, the cub is interested in the things he does not know, like the mouth of the cave which he thinks as a door of light that only his father and mother can pass through. Every day he ventures towards the “door of light” and every day he is turned over by his mother and dragged back into the cave by her. That developed an idea in his mind that he should be smart to avoid hurt. One day, he starts to wonder around in the outside world and from his instinct he killed and ate the bird. Later when he meets the chick’s mother and shortly learns that it is better to kill small things than big things.

The outside world is wonderful and full of attracts, we all do not know when we will be lured, though at first we can control our emotion, after several times we will be lured. People was lured to the north to find gold, we are fight for the new things, the better life. At every stage of our life, we will encounter different attracts, the interesting toys, the good-income job, the cars, the house, too much tempts, we are puzzled and lose our judgment. Gradually, we lose ourselves. The little cab was interested in the outside things of the cave; he did not want to be constrained by the environment mow. We should appreciate it; we should keep the curiousness of the new things but still have their own judgments. Be clear what you are doing, have a correct purpose, do not be stubborn, be flexible to do things. In now days, we are face a lot of choices, find a job or continue or study, one is by the fact, another is our interest. Because these, we are hesitate to choose, the idea was deep in our mind, the first choice will determine the following things. But in my opinion, life itself is a pot of colors, whither you are good or bad, it is your business.

The Book Report of White Fang

White Fang is the main character in the book. He is a wolf with human qualities, and feelings. White Fang is born in the wild and then he has to be trained to become a domestic dog. Fang is very smart and learns quite quickly. After hard training, White Fang finally becomes a well trained dog.

I think it not only a story about wolf, but a story about growing up. The little wolf is just like us, and what he faced can be related to what we may meet while growing up. Maybe we are afraid of the outside world, and cannot do things we want for we may get hurt. But we have to be independent one day just like the little wolf. So be brave and strong, so that we can fit the outside world better.

I feel happy after reading the story, because I see that human and wild animal can be friends and get on well. The wild animal can do something really good for us, and we appreciate the friendship between the animal and us. It shows that we can get on well with the natural; we should not killing wild animals for money or fun.

On the other hand, the story is a little sad. A wolf becomes a dog. He gave up his nature, his thirst for free. He gradually accepted the people once he hated. And he did things perfectly that were good to him although he didn’t want to. Maybe the experience of people is similar. Everyone has to get used to the society, which means he has to change himself in some aspect.

From this book, I learn that we should be brave to face the difficulty and the outside world, but we should never give up our nature. And it is also very important to get on well with the wild for us.
