The little prince 读后感

The Book report of The Little Prince

The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint Exupery (1900.6.29-1944.7.31)

The Little Prince is a children’s book for grown-ups. Actually, all grown-ups are children first, though few of them remember it. Antoine is the narrator of The Little Prince, he met the little prince in the Sahara desert six years ago and he understood him gradually. In the book, we could know the story about the little prince who came from asteroid B-612. After finishing reading the book, I think I could understand why the book is dedicated to grown-ups.

At the beginning of the book, Antoine draw a picture showed a boa constrictor swallowing a wild beast and he showed it to adults. However, they just thought it was a hat and they encouraged him to study geography, history, and grammar. So he chose to learn to be a pilot airplanes and he succeed in it and grown-ups praised him and were glad to know such a reasonable person.

But he didn’t totally understand them, so he lived alone and talked to them rarely, until he met little prince in desert because of his broken plane’s engine. I felt happy and surprise that the little prince understood the boa constrictor from outside. This was the difference between little prince and grown-ups. They paid attention to flesh and blood but not children’s world.

The little prince had been to many planets before he arrive the earth. The first one he came across was a king wearing purple and ermine, he was sitting on a simple yet majestic throne. We could see that and ermine had covered the whole planet. The king thought he has the biggest power to control the world but this showed that his power was under lie and arrogance. It also stood for that grown-ups always command children to obey rules to show their authority. So strange were they.

The second plant was inhabited by a very vain man, next was a drunkard and a businessman. The little prince thought they were all strange and extraordinary. They all reflected some character that children couldn’t understand. For example, a vain man just wanted to listen praise from other to satisfy himself, and a confused drunkard always drunk all day in order to forger some ashamed things, what’s more, a businessman just knew how to be rich and what he owned and he won’t be happy if he owned something like flowers. He didn’t want to pay but accept. Most of adults fight for authority, wealth, power and forget what their real value and lost their imagination in the beautiful world.

As far as I am concerned, I don’t think they will happy and their life is meaningful. They are vain, greedy and annoyed. What they own is nothing. The little prince tells us how to be a happy person and we should put away our vain, greedy and annoy. I have ever be a volunteer in some activities, once I help them and give them useful idea I felt happy. So

don’t hide your love and be generous to others.

I really like the sentence that the fox which the little prince made an acquaintance with it in the desert said, one sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes. From then on, he knew that he must be responsible for his rose. I have to admit that I admire the rose protected by the little prince because he loved it and took good care of it.

In my opinion, the little prince is gloomy, serious and overcurious. He pull up the baobabs regularly and water the flowers everyday. Many grown-ups can’t do this. Be naive to the world ,like a children. We can’t buy some health, happiness and love. Money is not everything. Use your heart to appreciate the world. I hope that everyone could become the little prince or come across the little prince.
