大部分院校的复试一般都包括这么几个环节：专业课笔试、英语口语和听力、专业课面试。这三部分大都是分开来的，一般为一天或者一天半的时间。

1、专业课的笔试。这部分以业务考查居多，其形式是写作。主要是写评论、新闻稿、小论文。其篇幅一般是800字左右，题目约两道，时间约一个半小时，闭 卷。当然学校各个学校考查的内容和题型不同。例如：中国传媒大学的专业课笔试和初试时新闻学基础一样，笔试为三个小时，题型和初试时新闻学基础一样，包括 名词解释、简答和论述，题并不难，多是跟专业相关的一些基本概念，准备充分的话应该不成问题。

2、英语口语和听力。各个学校的考试方式也不大一样。有的学校可能会以试卷的形式，放录音，根据录音答题；有的学校则是听力和口语放在一起考，即跟老师进 行面对面的外文交流；有的时候，是老师给你一段文字，或者一篇文章，让你读一遍，然后用英语复述文章的内容，然后用中文大体翻译其文章意思等等。英语口试 的分数在总分中所占比例不是很大，但也不能就此忽视，毕竟它关系到老师对你的个人印象。

以上三部分是大多数院校必考的环节，此外，还会有一些综合素质的考查，如：理论素质，主要是对你以前读过的专业课相关书籍和对热点问题的专业角度的分析和把握进行考查；

业务素质，新闻传播学的专业研究生考试，老师比较重视你的业务方面的能力。如果你本科期间曾经有过校刊、校报、院刊的记者或者主编经历或者相关的社会经验和技能，此时一定不要吝啬；是否具有研究能力或创新的潜力。研究能力最好的证明方式就是发表过的论文和参与的重大课题的成果，就社会当今的热点问题是否有 独特的见解和想法。
