Draft for the host
Good evening, boys and girls. Welcome to the Spelling Bee!
Before the competition, I would like to share a word from Nelson
Mandela Inauguration Speech in 1994. “Our deepest fear is not
that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful
beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be? Brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within
us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give
other people permission to do the same.”
Therefore, every student here is talented and potential. Good
to have X students joining the competition. They are …………
(I will make sure how many students joining the competition
and who they are before July, 30.)
First, I would like to introduce the rules and standards of
grading to you guys. The competitions can be divided into
three parts. The team which gets the highest total points
is the winner of the competition.
Part 1: In this part, the competitors are supposed to
spell the words when they see the pictures on the screen. Each competitor has 10 seconds to get prepared. They can
get 10 points when they spell it right and they get 0
point when the spell it wrong.
Part 2:In this part, the competitors are supposed to spell the words after the foreign teachers read it.Each competitors has 15 seconds to get prepared. They can get 20 points when they spell it right and they get 0 point when the spell it wrong.
Part 3:In this part, the competitors are supposed to spell the words after the foreign teachers read its explanation. Each competitors has 15 seconds to get prepared. They can get 30 points when they spell it right and they get 0 point when they spell it wrong.
Kind reminder. Be careful of the preparation time. If you see someone holding the yellow board, you have to spell the word, or you can’t get the point.
Okay, let’s begin!
(If the competition finishes too soon, we adopt the backup plan. )
Do you think the competition exciting?
Now, we give the competitors a second chance.
Here are the rules.
Each team has one chance to gain others’point and the rule can be listed as follows. Each team has 30 seconds to choose your
competitor. In this part, you have to compete with your opponent and spell the word as quickly as possible. If you know how to spell it, just raise your hand and spell it. You can get one point if you spell it right and the winning team can exchange the points with your competitors so as to receive your second chance.
When counting the points, let’s enjoy the movie Akeelah and the Bee.
The results of the competition come out. They are……………… Congratulations.
Boys and girls, our competition finishes and foreign teachers come to the stage and we take photos together.
Thank you.
Jasmine
