言语幽默在翻译中的缺失

一、研究课题的目的与意义

幽默是诙谐与机智的结合体。幽默不仅为人们的生活增添乐趣，也成为了人际关系的“润滑剂”，恰当的言语幽默可以促进人际关系的发展，因此幽默的翻译对于成功的国际交流来说不仅必要而且非常重要。

然而，不同国家、不同文化背景的人对幽默的理解不尽相同，所以，在幽默翻译的过程中产生不同程度的丢失是不可避免的，尤其是英汉两种语言之间的幽默翻译。因为言语幽默植根于特定的语言或文化情境中，英汉各自独特的语言特点和文化背景使言语幽默的翻译异常棘手。

本课题以言语的幽默在翻译中的缺失为切入点，结合丰富的实例探讨言语幽默的翻译问题。从语言和文化的角度分析引起言语幽默缺失的原因，指出了言语幽默的缺失及不可译性并非是一个绝对概念，只要采取恰当的补偿策略，就可以减少或避免言语幽默在跨文化交际中的缺失和误解，最终达到在目标语读者中引发笑声的目的。

通过本课题的研究，希望能使不同民族、不同文化背景的人能够更深刻理解他国的言语幽默，架起沟通的桥梁，拉近不同民族的距离，对世界文化的发展与交流起到积极地促进作用。

Over the last ten years, the implications of research into language acquisition (Crook & Gass, 1993) and the results of Prabhu?s task-based teaching experiment in India (Willis, 1990) have led to an increasing interest in the potential of task-based teaching of languages. However, this approach seems not easy to apply in Mainland China and Hong Kong due to the large class EFL teaching in those areas and a general lack of the environment in practicing the target language (Tsang, 2004).
