describes a vagrant who is jobless, homeless and commits crime on purpose so that he can be put into prison in winter. However,things don't goes as he expected. But when he makes up his mind to give up evil and return to good, he is arrested.

Based on the whole text, the author's humor is present in various ways, one of

which is through irrationality during the development of plots. soap, the vagrant who has stirred up trouble for six times, is eager to go to prison. But he is always out of luck and get policeman's forgiveness. When soap is touched by the anthem and wants to be a good citizen, he is arrested for groundless reasons. This way is a kind of black humor manifesting social reality profoundly. We can see something gloomy, desperate,but simultaneously, we can't help laughing when reading the vivid description.

《警察与赞美诗》读后感 -------------------再不说放弃

每一次读欧亨利先生的小说，终会为故事的曲折回荡所折服，为世界的百态众生而慨叹。正如很多人所说的，如果把他的小说作为一场“戏剧”对编剧而言，是个绝佳的情节；对观众而言，算是对得起一张入场票。

小说来源现实，在读者的眼中绽放，凸显它刻画的一切。先生通过短短的篇章，小小的故事，妙笔生花，在人们的心门上叩出无味人生。

有人说《警察与赞美诗》诉诸的是人生中的机遇问题。遇到却不把握，是蠢材；不遇机遇却懂得把握，是人才；既遇机遇又懂得把握，是天才。 那么理所当然，索比上演了一个无知的不知悔过遭人唾弃的小丑，背负起那个时代下芸芸众生相悖于正义和常理的渣滓。不值得同情。而赞美诗的结局便成了点睛般的反衬。当他惊恐地醒悟到自己已经坠入了深渊，堕落的岁月。可耻的欲念，悲观失望，才穷智竭，动机卑鄙变原形毕露。

有人说这是上帝在作祟。索比是这篇小说中的主人公，穷困潦倒，衣不蔽体，他为了进监狱过一个温暖的冬天而故意犯罪，惹是生非多达六次，竟没能达到目的，后来想改邪归正之时，警察却逮捕了他，仿佛是上帝和他开的一个玩笑。上帝很公平，很大方吗？对于索比来说，当他真正想要努力

?当人们真正想做的事，却会遭到背叛。?这是我在读《警察与赞美诗》时，所想到的一句话。

诚然，机会正在运行，它不仅是被动的，而且等着你来分析。分析；考虑到一系列琐碎的事件，然后决定去做。也许它本身是一个转瞬即逝的?精神?，这是我们的勇气、智慧和灵魂的考验。但这并不是说所有的事情都不是安全的，如果我们是如此微妙，与古代有什么差异？当然也要珍惜机会，抓住了机会，和?硬?，完全彻底地使用 ?硬?。如何更好的?完美?就是关键。

在这部电视剧的?结束意味着另一种‘开始 ’?。警察，只是例行公事，对于读者，在生活中，只是一个小插曲。一个好的作家，情节，为赢得观众的尊重，但，苏比，因为他是以前的?无知?的成果，因为他是不懂珍惜，他可能会将命运的?机会?，给放弃的结果。

幸福，但没有走远。是的，有许多名人的幸福，机会是他们中的一个。不要等到上帝不耐烦了，因为他也有喜怒哀乐，后来痛苦的就是自己。

珍惜身边的人，每一天，或在改变，但我们还没有看到太忙。机会就像偶然的相遇，是一件好事。运气好的话，它将发挥优势，是一种?美?。人的一生会有各种情况，每种情况是非常不同的。要选择一个不同的情况，会有一个不同的人生，一个不同的命运，一个不同的变化……

A New York City hobo named Soapy,who sets out to get arrested so he can avoid sleeping in the cold winter as a guest of the city jail. Soapy's ploys伎俩include swindling诈骗a restaurant into serving him an expensive meal, breaking the plate-glass window of a luxury shop, repeating his eatery exploit at a humble简陋的diner, sexually harassing a young woman, pretending to be publicly intoxicated喝醉to make troubles, and stealing another man's umbrella.

However, all of these attempts are quickly exposed as failures.Based on these events, Soapy despairs of his goal of getting arrested and imprisoned.

SCENE 1

At the gate of a prison Thief Policeman

P: (pulling the thief out of the gate) Ah, Mr. Black! It’s time to say goodbye! T: But officer! I want to stay here in prison. It’s too cold, and I have no place to stay. Let me stay here in prison! (Walking into the gate)

P: (pushing him away) Get out! You lazy thief! Go and look for a job! You’ll have some food and a room to live in.

T: But what can I do? I can’t do anything.

P: That’s your problem. We can’t help you. (The wind starts to blow hard and the thief trembles with cold.)

The tragedy of Cop When I was in junior high school, I read several novels (in Chinese) written by O Henry. But 6 years have gone by. I forgot most of the plot in his short stories. This week I read his short novel again, and the novel The Cop And The Anthem leave me a deep impression. In this novel, the leading character Soap has no ambitious destination. Just as the novel described” there were no dreams of Mediterranean voyages, of blue Southern skies or the Vesuvian Bay. Three months on the Island was what his soul desired. “When I read this sentence, I was extremely confused, everyman want to be free, to live a happy life through their work. But Soap just wants to put in prison. Why? There are several reasons. First of all, the fickleness of the American world made people indifferent with other person around them and turn the facts upside down. When Soap wanted to put in jail in Blackwell Island, he tried 6 methods. Such as dined luxuriously at some expensive restaurant, dashed stone through the glass of the shop window, acted as a masher. But the cop just ignored what he has done, but when Soap lay in the iron fence, determine to battle with his desperate fate, the cop arrested him without any reason. Secondly, I think maybe Soap is too lazy. Though at that time, the gap between the rich and the poor are large. But Soap just thought to lead a vagrant life, depend on other people. He was shiftless, everyday, he roamed sacrificial lamb of the typical society
