新闻标题的重要性

英语新闻在中西方信息交流上起首要作用，它能给我们的工作和生活带来几乎各个领域的大量最新信息。因此，读英语新闻正成为我们了解世界信息的一条主要途径。作为一条英文新闻的首要部分，英语新闻标题通常都是一个人眼睛首先所触及的地方。读者是否会继续读完新闻的整个段落，绝大部分决定于这则文章标题的质量。

那么，什么才是标题的内涵呢？现在新出版的《辞海》对标题作了这样的解释:“新闻工作术语。报刊上新闻和文章的题目，通常特指新闻的题目。报纸编辑部用标题来概括、评价新闻内容，帮助读者阅读和理解新闻。”《辞海》的这段解释，有助于我们对标题的理解。其实，究竟什么是“标题”，似乎可以作这样简要的表达：它是报刊上新闻和文章的标题，通常特指新闻这种文体的题目。是以大于正文的字号，用精警的词语，对新闻内容和中心思想富有特色的浓缩和概括。它是新闻的一个组成部分，是新闻报道的延续和最后完成。这也就是说，第一，它必须是新闻事实的浓缩，是新闻不可分割和不能任意拟定的一部分；第二，它是对新闻事实“画龙点睛”式的评论，让读者透过这个小小的“窗口”，窥见新闻的要意；第三，文字简短，富有个性特色。

新闻标题在整篇新闻稿中可以说是必不可少的，其在一篇新闻稿中有五大重要性: 一：提示内容。新闻标题用最简洁的文字将新闻中最具有价值的内容提示给读者。1：充当新闻索引。现代生活和工作的方式决定了读者对新闻只能有选择的获取，而新闻标题集中概括了新闻最主要的内容，且又是一段最简单的文字，读者可以快速的找到他们所需要获知的新闻。2：提供简要信息。新闻标题对新闻内容所作的提示，对于准备了解新闻的人来说是索引、是导向，对于不准备详读新闻的人来说，便成为了了解新闻信息的窗口了。既然新闻标题是新闻中最具有价值、最为重要的那部分事实和问题的浓缩和概括，这就决定了新闻标题具有依托新闻稿件而存在的从属性，也具有某种独立的负载新闻、传递信息的特殊功能。 二：评价内容。由于人们的知识水平或理解水平的不同，对待新闻内容的主次区分及对新闻中透露出的价值观的掌握程度也不同。新闻标题有义务为读者在概括新闻事实的基础上，点明新闻的意义，帮助读者正确的理解新闻的内容，认识新闻的价值和意义。赞成什么、反对什么、呼吁什么、谴责什么，旗帜鲜明、一针见血。

三：激发兴趣。激发读者兴趣，吸引读者阅读新闻也是新闻标题的功能之一。一个好的标题作为一个有形的物体呈现在读者面前，给人以形象感、层次感、真实感，从而容易抓住读者的眼睛，吸引读者的注意，进而使读者产生阅读新闻的欲求。当然最能吸引读者注意的

是标题的内容所表现出来的社会价值、新闻价值、审美价值。

四;美化版面。标题是新闻的“眼睛”，也是报纸版面的必不可少的点缀。同时，报纸版面的大小是一定的。如果没有标题单单引入一堆稿件，整个版面就会黑压压的一片分不清稿件的层次。我们可以通过标题本身的形式的多样化、标题内容与形式的统一，标题与图片的合理配置及版面上各标题间的相互映衬来实现个稿件间的界限，避免版面的单调、刻板，有助于版面的美化，使整个版面赏心悦目，富有色彩，使读者产生美的愉悦。

五：体现风格。新闻标题不仅具有美化版面的功能，还是形成报纸和其他新闻传媒风格的重要手段。首先，从内容上，某个报纸（或者某个新闻传媒）如果使作为新闻精的标题保持某种基本格调和文风，久而久之将形成自己制作标题的鲜明特色，成为反映整体风格的重要方面。其次，从形式上，某个报纸（或者某个新闻传媒）如果运用不同的编排方式，对作为新闻眼的标题进行某种特殊处理也会形成自己的风格。

新闻标题是新闻的门面，为新闻内容作广告；又好比新闻的眼睛，是新闻内容的精华之所在.新闻标题的诸多功能和特性，规定了它既体现着“新闻眼”的信息价值，又承载着表达蕴含于稿件中的思想价值和启示意义。新闻标题准确深刻，有助于稿件的集中概括，删繁就简；新闻标题形象生动，则有助于作者在选材过程中慧眼识珠，从而把那些最有新闻价值、最为读者关注的信息以简约的笔墨表现出来，把最容易打动读者、影响读者的细节挖掘出来。

The Importance of Headline

English news plays a capital role in the communication for information between east and west, and it can bring us a great deal of latest information from the world covering almost every field in our daily work and life. Therefore, reading English news is becoming a main access to the world information. As the capital part of a piece of English news, English news headlines are always the first places where one’s eyes would stay, so that whether the people would continue to read the whole passages is mostly decided on the quality of the article’s headline.

What is headline? The newest public dictionary <Cihai>defineds the news headline:” It is the term of journalism. The title of news and article in newspapers and periodicals, in general, standing for the headline of news.” The explanation in <Cihai>, helping us to understand what is headline. In other words,what is headline? It seems to express in brief: it is the article of news and article in newspapers and periodicals,in general, standing for the headline of news. It uses the word size bigger than text and incisive words, it is the concentrate and summarization of content and main idea in a news. It is the part of a news,it is continuation and accomplishment eventually in a news report.In other words ,the first ,it must be the concentration of news facts,it is inseparable and baseless part in a news; the second ,it is the comment of a news and act as polish in the whole news and it likes a window, readers can understand the news in brief by it; the third, the headline uses the words as little as possible ,but it is full of characteristic.

The headline of news is essentially in the whole news,and plays many important roles in a news release:

First: It can reflect the content. Readers have less time in a modern world. A good headline should mirror and reflect the essence or the main content of the story. For newspapers and magazines, headline is always the most important element on a page. It does occupy a prominent position in news for its irreplaceable functions. The newspaper headline tells what, who, where, when and how are about the events. Headline can set up a bridge between the readers and the information the author intend to convey.

What’s more, an attractive headline can not only improve the readers’ understanding of the news but also catch the readers’ eyes at first sight. The headline to an article is what the wrapping paper to the chocolate. Once the readers see the headline, they will be induced to know the taste of the paper, to explore what’s inside the body behind the headline. (1)It plays a index role in a news. The life and work style in the present age ask readers to read the news selectively, the headline of news summarizes the main content, and it is the most simple wordage .Readers can find the news which they want to learn in rapid.(2):Offering the belief information for readers. The headline of news offers the belief of information in the whole news, for that people who want to learn the news ,it is index ;but, for that people who do not want to read news in detail ,it is a window to learn information in the news.The headline of news is the most worthfuland the most important part, This determines the headlines with relying on press releases from the property exists, but also has some independent load news, special features of transmitting information.

Second: Evaluation content.Due to the different knowledge and understand ability of different people, how to distinguish the major and minor content in a news and how to grasp the value,some people can understand but the rest of people cannot understand thorough. The headline of news has obligation to summarize the base of news fact for readers ,at the same time ,it should tell readers what is the significance of news ,help readers to understand the content of news correctly .tell readers what they agree,what thy oppose , what they appeal and what they condemn.It seems like a flat.

Thirdly:To attract readers’ attention on news. To attract readers’ attention on news and appeal readers to read it is one of the most important functions. a good headline can act as an object with shape appear in the front of readers ,shows a image of a sense , layer and realistic, it is easier to obtain the reader’s eyes, at the same time, readers will pay more attention to this news,in other words they will have interest in reading this news. Of course, the social value, news value and aesthetic value in the headline is the most attraction, it also the reason why the news can

get attract from readers, people also want to read this news.

Fourthly: Landscaping forum. Headlines plays the role of eyes in a news, at the same time, it is the essential embellishment in newspapers. It is universally acknowledged that the size of newspapers is settled. If therehave not headline in a whole newspaper just introduce a bunch of articles, the entire layout of a dense mass, we will not distinguish the manuscript’s level. We can be in the form of the headline’s diversification, make content and form of headline in unity, the headline and the picture on the rational allocation and the interplay between the various headlines in the layout to achieve a boundary between manuscript and avoid a monotonous and rigid layout,it will help to beautify the layout,make the layout pleasing, rich colors, it will gives reader a beauty pleasure.

Fifth: Reflecting the style. Not only has the headline of a news a function to beautify the layout but it also has an important way to distinguish form the other newspapers. In the first place, from the content, in a newspaper (or a news media), the fine headline of a news can maintain some basic style and writing style, over time the title will be formed to produce their own distinctive characteristics, becoming an important way to reflect the style of their own. The last but not the least, from the form, in a newspaper (or a news media) ,if they use the different editing mode, The way to treat the headline which act as the eyes in a news by a particular will form their own style.

The headline of news has many functions and characteristic, it decides that it can offer much important information which acts as the eyes in a news, it also can show the ideological value and enlightenment in a news. The headline of a news must accurate and profound, it can help us to summarize the content in a manuscript, wipe off the cumbersome content and keep the significant content; The headline of a news must vivid, it can help readers to find the news they want to read, it will bring the most worthy news to readers.
