当初升的朝霞正绽放着灿烂，当晨雾和炊烟在田野上轻轻飘散，在古老的天桂山脚下，有一所书声朗朗、生机盎然的学校，这就是平山县北冶乡北冶中学。

北冶中学始建于19xx年，两次合并，隶属于北冶乡中心学校。过去的北冶中学，规模不大，面积较小，学生不足300，教职工不满20，三栋民房一字排开，教学设施简陋，教学环境较差。承各级领导悉心关怀，蒙几代贤达栉风沐雨，经数届师生发愤图强，而今的北冶中学焕然一新。

走进北冶中学，便有一股蓬勃之气、书香之气、自然之气迎面扑来。学校占地面积四万余平方米，建筑面积11200平方米。校园布局合理，绿化环境优美。有教学楼、综合楼、、学生宿舍楼、学生食堂共6幢。新竣工的学生餐厅，造型优美，环境优雅；新建成的运动场观礼台，气势宏伟，高瞻远瞩；展览室资料齐全，琳琅满目；图书室、阅览室、仪器室、实验室、微机室，应有尽有，并广泛运用于教育教学之中。

北冶中学现有教学班12个，在校学生450余人，专任教师40人。其中市级骨干教师3人，县级优秀教师、师德标兵10人次。师资力量雄厚，教学水平精湛。

学校从课堂入手，坚持?先学后教，以学定教、教学合一?的现代教学理念，改革教学模式，提高教学质量。20xx年春季，学校成功举办?平山县‘教学练’课题实验暨教学成果转化观摩会?，全县教育精英云集于此，摩拳擦掌，讨论热烈；武穴市教育局、教研室、平山县第二中学、晋梅中学、小池中学等三十多个单位，纷纷前来观摩学习。经过四年的打拼，学校已实现了第一个目标——?平山北冶中学?，正朝着?品牌北冶中学?迈进。近三年来，学校先后获得?先进党支部? ?全面工作先进单位? ?教研教改先进单位??体育示

改革的是课堂，成长的是教师，受益的是学生。近三年来，学校有教师58人次在省、市、县三级优质课、论文比赛中纷纷获奖；夏良、王细凯、陈前等同学录取黄冈高中，周炳晨、余忆等10名同学先后被平山中学理科实验班录取，并为平山中学输送了56名高才生，更有上千名同学顺利考入普通高中。

发展的是体育，提高的是素质，提升的是品位。学校坚持面向全体，开齐开足课程，开展阳光运动，增强师生体质。早操、晨练风雨无阻，大课间、体育课百花齐放，篮球、足球你争我抢，滚铁环、踢毽子遍地开花。每天锻炼一小时，师生快乐满校园。金秋十月，
