1.Describe a sport you are good at: Tennis

I would like to talk about tennis, which is my best love among all the popular sports. Tennis is popular all over the world, especially loved by teenagers. There is a comic book named, Prince of Tennis, illustrated by a Japanese artist. The spread of this book made tennis more popular.

The spirit of tennis is practice makes perfect, and we should never give up. When I was in sixth grade, I began to learn how to play tennis because I was a fan of the comic book. When I play tennis, I will devote myself to it. I have entered for many tennis competitions. I like winning so the procedure seems exciting. At that time, I was not good at sports. But after playing tennis, my PE grades became the best in my class.

Because of tennis, I learned that I should never give up when I face difficulties. I still have lots more to work on. Tennis is my favorite outdoor sport.

2.Movie---starstruck

I recently watched a movie called Starstruck, which was a Disney movie, talking about how a famous pop star, Christopher, fell in love with an ordinary girl, Jessica. The movie was filmed in Los Angeles and was on in February 2010, not too old.

I chose it because of the ranking, but when I actually watched it, I realized that it was a teen’s movie. However, I didn’t regret watching it because I think I learned something from the movie. It is interesting because it sees celebrity life from another angle and tells us that we are blessed to be common people because there is more freedom for us to enjoy. In the film, it shows us how hard it might be when a person can’t make his own choices and decisions. At that point, material wealth will not matter to them because they can’t live their life the way they really want to.

It helped me to reflect on my own life. Now I see I should just enjoy my life because everyone has the right to enjoy his or her life no matter who he or she is.

3. A traditional story :Chang’e and Houyi

Chang'e is the Chinese goddess of the moon. The lunar exploration-orbiting spacecraft Chang'e 1 is named after her.

According to legend, Chang'e and her husband Houyi were immortals living in heaven. One day, the ten sons of the Jade Emperor transformed into ten suns, causing the earth to scorch. Having failed to order his sons to stop ruining the earth, the Jade Emperor summoned Houyi for help. Houyi, using his legendary archery skills, shot down nine of the sons, but spared one son to be the sun. The Jade Emperor was obviously not pleased with Houyi's solution to save the earth: nine of his sons were dead. As punishment, the Jade Emperor banished Houyi and Chang'e to live as mere mortals on earth.

Seeing that Chang'e felt extremely miserable over her loss of immortality, Houyi decided to journey on a long, perilous quest to find the pill of immortality so that the couple could be immortals again. At the end of his quest he met the Queen Mother of the West who agreed to give him the pill, but warned him that each person would only need half the pill to become immortal.

Houyi brought the pill home and stored it in a case. He warned Chang'e not to open the case and then left home for a while. Chang'e became too curious: she opened up the case and found the pill just as Houyi was returning

home. She either accidentally or purposely swallowed the pill. She started to float into the sky because of the overdose. Chang'e kept on floating until she landed on the moon.

While she became lonely on the moon without her husband, she did have company，a jade rabbit.

4. A favorite subject

I think the most interesting subject in my high school is geography. I have a dream to travel around the world since I was a child. At that time, I would always wonder where exactly some famous cities were on the map, such as London, New York, so I am really interested in geography.

I had a great geography teacher in my high school. She was knowledgeable, hard-working and devoted to the students. I always felt very excited when I had geography classes because I couldn’t wait to learn more about the world. Besides that, I also liked reading atlas and other books about geography during my spare time. I would always have good marks/grades on geography throughout my high school years.

When I talk about geography with my classmates or even parents, I can always impress them with my knowledge. I still like geography and hope I can travel around the world in the future.

5. sports :Jogging

Nowadays many people spend too much time indoors working or studying, but outdoor activities are very important for us to keep healthy. I like many outdoor activities, especially jogging.

I often jog in the park near my home on sunny days. I can listen to music and breathe the fresh air while I jog so I can feel really relaxed. When I jog in the park, I can also see the green trees and beautiful flowers. I can feel close to the nature. It’s also a good time for me to think important things in life. I feel it’s an important part of my daily life. Sometimes, I would ask my friends or parents to join me. It’s also a good time to communicate with others. It’s a simple activity; you only need a pair of good sneakers. It’s also suitable for many people, from children to old people. They can enjoy this activity.

I think everybody should do some outdoor activities because it’s a great way to help us get close to the nature. It’s not only good for our physical fitness but also good for our mental health.

6. A Toy

I want to describe a toy in my childhood. Actually, it was not a girly toy. It is a model car.

When I was a kid, I acted like a boy and I was very interested in car models and guns. But my mother didn’t know that and she bought many dolls for me. To tell you the truth, my father found that I liked model cars, so he bought me one as a little present.

It’s as big as a book and the color was very bright, it was red. I think the car was cool and I liked it very much. I would always take it out and study it. I figured out many functions of the car. I felt it was amazing that people could invent this tool for transportation.

Since it was the gift that my father gave me, I kept it very carefully. Even now, it still looks like a brand new car. I think it’s very meaningful for a kid to own something that they like.

7. A practical skill

I’d like to describe a skill I learned, which is to edit songs on computer by using the software, called cool edit.

I love singing, so a skill to edit songs is very practical and important for me. I first heard about it when I was eleven years old. When I was surfing the internet, a net friend told me about this software. I began to learn how to use at once by watching many online classes about it. Soon I can record my voice on the computer and after a lot of practice; I can edit many audio files perfectly. For example, I sang a song named “take me away”, after being edited, it sounds just like the original singer’s singing. It is amazing, because I can even change a girl’s voice into a boy’s voice.

I like to play with it in my spare time, so my skill has improved a lot. When I told my friends about it, all of them were really impressed.

8. A piece of equipment----airconditioner

I’d like to talk about a piece of advanced equipment in my home, an air conditioner. My parents bought it in a department store when I was sixteen years old to replace the old one.

I think it is interesting to use this equipment, just like magic. Because when we use it, it can change hot air to cold air. When we are cold, we also get warm by using it. I can’t imagine what our life will be if we don’t have it.

Of course we don’t use it all the time. Because when in spring or autumn, the weather is very comfortable, it isn’t necessary to use it. If we use it all the time, it is not environmental friendly. Also, it is not good for our health if we stay in an air-conditioned room for a long time. When I feel very hot or cold outside, I will miss my air conditioner.

9.A person who speaks a foreign language

I’d like to describe a foreign teacher of mine, Bob. He is tall and strong, with strong muscles. He is a typical American—confident and humorous. He is a very attractive man.

A lot of my classmates liked his class very much. I also chose his course in the second year of my university. At first, I didn’t feel there was anything special about him. Later, I found that he really had the ability to make his class interesting because he was so funny and good at telling jokes. He was also creative. He had so many new ways for us to practice our English.

After class, I like talking with him in both Chinese and English because he also learned some Chinese. Through communicating with him, I learned a lot about western culture.

I need to thank him. Because of him, I feel that English is actually a fun subject to learn. My interest in English grew and now I’m still interested in learning language.

10. A family but not yours

I’d like to talk about my uncle’s family. I think the life style in this family is very different from mine because as a big family, they can do many things together. It’s very different from my family; they have three children, two boys and one girl.

This is big family is always very lively. I’m the only child, so sometimes I feel lonely. But in this family, you will always hear the laughter and everyone will be influenced by their cheerfulness. They always do some outdoor activities. For example, they would have picnic on weekends and go mountain climbing at the nearby places. They sometimes go far away places for long trips. I admire them because when I look at their pictures, I could see how happy they are.

Usually I think it’s a good thing to be the only child because I could have my parents’ full attention. However,

sometimes, when I look at their family, I will feel it might be even better if I have brothers and sisters.

11. A friend you admire

I want to talk about one of my playmates in my childhood. Her name is Su. She’s very beautiful. She had long black hair and big eyes. She looked like a Barbie doll.

However her personality was very different from her appearance. I like her because of her strong personality and her kindness to others. She never cried even when she hurt her knees badly and would always help and comfort others just like a big sister.

I always knew she’s a strong girl, but later I realized that she’s stronger than I thought. When we were in primary school, one day, my teacher asked her out and told her that her father died in a car accident. She came back to our classroom to get her school bag without crying. When I went to her home to ensure she was ok, I saw her comforting her mother. She was like an adult, still without crying.

Later she went to Canada and we haven’t seen each other for about five years. I can still her beautiful appearance and her strong personality. When I feel discouraged, I will always remember her and I can become strong because of her influence.

12. A successful foreign person

There are many successful people in the world. Since I’m a football fan, I’d like to talk about David Beckham, a successful football player. A lot of people know him not because he’s an excellent football player but because of his good looking. Especially a lot of women, they regard him as a big sport star. But that’s not the reason I admire him. I think he’s a successful man because he works hard and never gives up.

As a young player, he was blamed for his mistake that caused the failure of his national team in the 1998 world cup. A lot of people laughed at him, but he was not defeated and tried harder than before. In 2001, his score helped his national team to win the game against Greece, which enabled them to enter world cup in the next year. He became a national hero overnight.

I learned a lot from him. Sometimes, we might fail once or several times but it doesn’t mean we will never succeed. It’s always good to keep trying. I believe hard work will eventually make a big difference.

13.a quiz show: One Versus One Hundred

I only watch TV occasionally, but there are still many TV programs that I like. I recently watched a program called 1 versus 100, which is a quiz show presented on Hunan TV channel.

We can easily tell the nature of the program by hearing the name. There will be one challenger versus one hundred opponents at each show. Both the one and the one hundred will be given the same multiple-choice questions. One question is asked at a time, and the one hundred answer first, then it will be the one’s turn. Since the one is alone, during the show he/she is allowed to ask for help three times, including making a phone call, following the majority, or asking the presenter to eliminate one wrong answer. Each time, some of the one hundred will be eliminated if they get the answer wrong. In the end, if the one answers all the questions correctly, the one will win the game and get a big amount of money as the prize. However, if the one fails, the money will be divided by the remaining opponents. Maybe because of the big prize or the competitive atmosphere, the participants are always very excited.

The reason I like it is that this quiz show asks some simple questions that we are supposed to know but a lot of people actually have never thought about them. For example, one question asked was about the picture on the

back of a 50 yuan RMB, but the majority of the one hundred got this simple question wrong. I have seen several shows, but I have never seen the one answered all the questions correctly. I began to wonder that maybe I could enter for the show, too, because I actually knew the answers of a lot of their questions. I think it will be fun if I can try.

14. Advertisement

I want to tell you an advertisement about a health product called Naobaijin. It’s such a famous advertisement that almost everybody in China can recite the lines of the advertisement.

The advertisement is very simple. An old couple tell us that they don’t need any gift for the spring festival but naobaijin. It has been showed on TV year after year, especially during the Spring Festival. In China, young people are supposed to buy presents for the older generation during Chinese New Year, but they usually don’t have many good choices except cigarette and wine. These are not good for their health. Because Naobaijin is a very healthy gift for older people, so it becomes popular. You would see it everywhere from newspapers to internet.

A lot of people might feel tired of it, but I think it is a successful advertisement although it is not creative. It’s simple to remember so everybody knows this product now. It has drawn our attentions successfully and brought fortune to the manufacturer.

15:Hotpot Restaurant

I’d like to talk about a hotpot restaurant, called super hot, in my hometown. I like hotpot very much. My friend told me about the restaurant, so I went there with my sister.

The food there is very delicious. After eating there many times, I recommended it to my friends and most of them liked it too. I think the manager is very creative. Since the business is very good, sometimes customers have to wait for the tables. The manager make this waiting time more rewarding. When the costumers have to wait for more than five minutes, they can have three plates of vegetables for free. Sometimes we feel happy if we have to wait, which is very different from the experiences in other restaurants. If you eat there, you can enjoy your drinks for a low price and you get your refills for free. I think it is very economic.

It became a very famous restaurant in my city. Now a lot of chain restaurants opened in my hometown. I think the business of this restaurant will be even better. Maybe soon, we will be able to find it in hangzhou.

1. Describe a modern building

Well, everyday there are new buildings being constructed. No matter in what styles they are built, as long as they are using the modern techniques and modern materials, they are modern buildings. Here, I’d like to talk about the Hangzhou grand theater, a very special modern building. Made of steel and galss, golden in color, it looks like a sun resting on the earth.

Designed by internationally known Canadian architect, Hangzhou Grand Theatre covers 100,000 square meters with a total construction area of 55,000 square meters. It consists of an opera house, a concert hall, a

multifunction hall, an open air stage and a culture square.

The silky titanium roof symbolizes the pearl; the slant surface made of the double curved glass curtain wall represents the moon; a pool of over 6000 square meters in front of Hangzhou Grand Theatre stands for the beautiful West Lake.

Located in the center of the building and looking like a U shape, the Opera House has altogether 1600 seats with red color as its basic tune. Designed as a classical shoe box, the concert hall has totally 600 seats with blue color as its basic tune. Breaking through the traditional mode, with 400 seats, lifts and chairs that can be turned up and down, the Multifunction Hall can achieve the flexibility of space arrangement according to specific requirements.

With the performing stage surrounded by the seats, and the whole stage surrounded by a water-pool with a total accommodation of 1000 people, the Open Air Stage imitated ancient Roman classical style of architecture. Hangzhou grand theater is really a modern building, and a very special one.

2. Describe a new law

Well, to provide a secured life for the public, every year the government of China is improving in its law system by updating those already existed ones or by issuing new ones. Here, I would like to talk about a new law that was just in practice in January 1st this year. It is about the regulations on advertisements on TVs and Radios.

For a time in the past, there are great varieties of advertisements on TVs and radios, but due to lack of proper management and supervision, there exist a lot of misleading or unhealthy advertisements, which exert a negative influence on the general public. And therefore, in January 1st, this new regulations were called into practice.

In this new law, it does not allow any misleading advertisements, or advertisements that contain unhealthy information, such as violence, pornography, disgusting pictures, unhealthy life attitude. Also, it does not allow any advertisements about cigarettes, and those about liquors are limited to a larger extent. In addition, it also regulates about the timing, the periods about the advertisements.

In this way, this new law tends to provide the public a much healthier living environment. And from its practice over the past months, the public, especially the children, do have a much better exposure of information from TV and radio programs. I do hope that more and more news laws that are intended to improve our life are issued in the future.

3. Describe a TV presenter

Well, there are so many different TV programs on show everyday in diversified channels; hence there are thousands and thousands of TV presenters we can see. Some may leave us a very deep impression while others may not leave a thing in our mind. Here, I’d like to talk about the TV presenter I love, Wuzongxian, although others may have a mixed feeling about him.

Being a TV presenter in Taiwan, Wu started his career in the field of variety shows in the late 1980s, and then he became famous because of his unique style of hosting TV programs and therefore the TV programs he hosted are constantly ahead in the ratings. All these earn him the top salary among those TV presenters in Taiwan, being the local king for many years. In 2008, he even won the Golden Bell Awards in television industry.

His fast reaction and tactfulness in hosting is among the first class, second to few others, and gradually, he formed his own style of hosting TV programs. Because he likes to use those popular words on the internet, and his figure is not like other middle-aged men, he is quite popular among the young audience. However, he also likes to rip on people, open the yellow gun, speak nonsense, and disrespect women, which, meanwhile, bring him a lot of criticisms.

Thanks to the change of the criteria of assessment, Wu was nominated three times for the best

TV presenter in 2006,2007 and 2008, and successfully won the golden bell award in 2008 with the popular program “guess, guess, guess”” This is also the best affirmation to him.

When I feel stressed, and in my spare time, I like to watch the program he hosts, I like to enjoy the relaxation and laugh out my pressures by seeing him on the screen. He is really a great TV presenter in my mind.

4. Describe an artist

Well, you know, when we are pursuing a more fashionable life, various kinds of arts are being created. However, compared to the achievements and levels of those artists in our history, it is hard to find out one who is more outstanding. Therefore, to describe an artist, I would like to talk about Qi baishi. One of the ten top artists in the 20th century in China, and also well-know through out the world.

I became to know him when I was in the middle school, when my father, one day, came back home very excitedly, because he successfully got one painting of Qibaishi. However, a week later, my father was disappointed because the painting turned out to be a fake. Later, I am quite interested in gathering all possible information about this artist and his art works.

Under his brush, each flower, bird, fish and even an insect is amazingly vivid, while the hills, the waters and the figures are all perfect, showing the wisdom and philosophy of life and thus moving the readers directly. In his 80s, he was especially famous for his talents in drawing shrimps. He was so hard working that in his life time, he had produced more than 30000 paintings and 3000 poems.

He is a great artist because of his profound achievement in the filed of paintings, calligraphies, poems and seals, because of his combination of the folk art and traditional art, because of his integration of paintings from the life and paintings with freehand. I really admire him.

Well, you know, in my childhood, I was really a naughty boy and I did a lot of naughty things, such as breaking the neighbor’s windows because of my poor football skills, beating other people’s pet dogs to see them bark around the yard, disguising myself as ghosts to scare other children, and so on. Even now when I recall those naughty things, smiles may still arise on my face. But here, I would like to talk about a naughty thing I did to my grandfather, because in the end I was praised because of my bad behavior.

When I was 9 years old, it was the first summer holiday that I had as a student, my parents sent me to the countryside to live with my grandpa, coz they were too busy to take care of me in the daytime. Not like many other grandpas who may spoil their grandchildren, my grandpa was quite demanding on me. You know, I was only 9 years old, but during that summer holiday, he often asked me to go to the farmland with him to do the farming, even in the hot sunshine. And so I tried my best to avoid doing the labor. One day, together with my grandpa, we planted corns in the filed. My grandpa was ahead, digging holes for me to cast the corn seeds inside. And he worked so hard that he dug the holes faster than I could sow the seeds. In order to work less and try to finish the work quickly, I sowed much more seeds than were needed for one hole, and soon we ran out of corn seeds. Although there were still a lot of holes vacant, we had to finish the job and went back home. Yeah, not enough seeds. And I felt happy because my grandpa didn’t find out my trick. Several weeks later, the corn plants sprouted. In some places, there were only a few, but in others, there were a lot. And I was not aware that my trick would be discovered later when they grew out. Luckily, it happened that year we met a drought, and those sprouts did not grew well, even some of them died. My grandpa then divided some of the sprouts from those spare ones and planted them into those vacant holes. You know, my grandpa did not blame me for my trick, but praised about my “contribution”. He said: thank you boy, it is you that we could grow those corns so well in the field”.

Well, my naughty behavior turned out to be a contribution. It was the only time that I got praise for my naughty

behavior. Even now when I think about it, it’s still a funny memory.

6. Describe a good teacher

Everyone may have many teachers in their life. Some may be helpful to him, while others may not. Here I would like to talk about my head teacher in my high school, Mrs. Hu. She is a middle aged woman in her forties. She has a very cute face and friendly to others. Everyone likes her at first sight.

Mrs. Hu is very responsible for us. Every time when students in her class have troubles, she would be the first one there to offer help, so she is very busy and have less time to stay with her family.

She is very skillful in her teaching and management of the class. She knows how to teach those naughty boys, how to arouse our interests in learning, and how to unite our class together. Being one of her students, we all feel proud

She is very professional in teaching knowledge to students. She teaches politics in the high school, and it seems that she knows a lot about the situation in china and in the world. She likes to teach the knowledge by telling us stories and her own analysis. This helps us greatly in understanding the knowledge and remembering the facts.

She is really a good teacher, friendly, responsible, skillful and professional. We all love her.

We city-dwellers already know about the extra risks we face from heart disease and sudden cardiac arrest linked to air pollution. But according to a new study, we may be able to reduce our risk of dying of coronary heart disease by moving away from traffic.

The study looked at more than 450,000 healthy adults in Vancouver, Canada, and found that people who lived within 0.09 miles of a highway or 0.03 miles of a major road were 29 percent more likely to die of coronary heart disease than those who lived farther away. However, people who first lived near heavy traffic, then moved away, were just 14 percent more likely to die.

The first thing I did after reading that was check my own Brooklyn brownstone rental on Google Maps. Turns out I’m 0.05 mile away from a major road, which is probably why I have to clean soot off my windowsill every weekend.

Besides, so many people are living in cities now, more than ever before, that fleeing to the countryside isn’t a realistic option. The American Heart Association recommends stricter emissions standards. We could also work to pass laws against building houses and apartments too close to main roads, or even to make sure the residential buildings are built facing away from winds carrying pollutants.

Someone You Would like to be Similar To

The singer I like is David Tao, who is a famous singer and song writer from Taiwan. His music is always original and it blends many musical elements like hip-pop, rock and roll, and jazz. I watched his online music video where he played the song “friend” using guitar, and his song is moving because you can see him pouring out his emotions. I like him because he’s talented—he was able to use a traditional musical instrument to create new music and recreate old music. David is different from other others because he attempts to create unforgettable stuff in his music. What’s more, during recent years, David often donated his money to some charitable organizations to help poor kids to go back to school. Artists like him are rare, so that’s the reason why I want to be like him.

An athlete

A famous sports star I like is 陈建州. I know it sounds quite common, but I adore him so much. Virtually 陈建州 is a professional basketball player. He’s nearly two meters tall, but unlike most basketball players, he has a lot of incredible skills which others don’t have. He is so hardworking and he puts all his heart into training and winning the games. I watched 陈建州 playing basketball since I was young and I was a big fan of him because of his good sportsmanship and his warm personality. I think he just has his own style and basketball for him is a passion and career, but despite all his fame, he doesn’t have a big head. Instead, he still stays cool both on court and in front of the camera. He is still just a simple man, even his face is on many famous posters and in advertisements everywhere.

An old person

An old person I respect is ___ . I met him when my father introduced him to me on his birthday last year. Before that, I’ve heard about him several times from my dad, but we never met each other. Despite our big age gap—I’m __ and he’s like 50—we immediately became friends. We had really a nice talk that day, you know, unlike I thought, he still keeps a young heart and he even has his wechat and microblogs. He used to be a backpacker and he has been to many places around the world. So he often shares photographs of his travel experiences with me and teaches me in a relaxing way. In my opinion, the best thing about life is getting paid for something that you love doing, something that you would do even without getting paid. So he had inspired me to pursue a career that I am passionate about. I deeply respect him because of his positive outlook and wisdom.

A family member

A family member I want work with is my grandfather. You know unlike other seniors in my country, he still keeps a young heart he even has his wechat and microblogs.

He used to be a backpacker and he has been to many places around the world. So he often shares photographs of his travel experiences with me and teaches me in a relaxing way. In my opinion, the best thing about life is getting paid for something that you love doing, something that you would do even without getting paid. I think my grandfather has inspired me to pursue a career that I am passionate about and I deeply respect him. What’s more, he’s a kind of person who has a positive outlook in everything, even in the most challenging situation. He never tries to control me, I just feel like there is no generation gap between us when we are together, and that’s why he’s my choice.

A person who is good at cooking

A person who is good at cooking is my grandpa, he is an excellent cook and I, of course, am lucky to enjoy different tasty dishes every day. You know, my grandpa is really good at cooking because he is a picky gourmet and during his time off, he often stays in the kitchen, experimenting some new recipes. His best dishes are mostly Chinese food, and he told me that his knowledge of cooking these dishes came from his parents because they used to teach him when he was young. He can also cook other Western dishes well, such as spaghetti and pasta. His dish often has a unique taste and perfect blend of flavors. He also taught me how to cook this dish, so that I could cook it for my children too when I have a family of my own.

Something you want to learn

Something I want to learn is cooking. I wanna learn it because I think is a pretty useful skill for me. You know, my grandpa is an excellent cook and I, of course, am lucky to enjoy different tasty dishes every day. His best dishes are mostly Chinese food, and he told me that his knowledge of cooking these dishes came from his parents because they used to teach him when he was young. So I can learn to cook from him as well. Since I have no idea of cooking, I will go to supermarket first to get familiarized with different foods. Also, I can often stand beside my grandpa when he cooks, watching the each and every step of cooking. Maybe after several times, I can make my own dish. But I know I can’t learn it now because I’m pretty busy, so I will learn it in the future because it’s an necessary part of my life.

A friend who you think is a good leader

A friend of mine who I think is a good leader is ___. The first time I met him was in my college, where we were in the same volunteer program. At that time, our team was arranged to go to the countryside to help some kids with study problems. Being a leader of our team, he didn’t like a usual haughty guy that everyone complained about. Instead, I soon discovered that members in our team admire and respect him because of his good qualities and positive attitude. He doesn’t act as if he knows everything, but rather encouraged us to work as a team and created a harmonious environment for all his teammates. During the night, we often had some little conferences to discuss the problems we had. And he would also help us improve our weaknesses. So I thought he was a true leader in all ways, inspiring us to do better.

A place I remember going to that is full of color is Venice. It’s in the north east of Italy and I became more interested in it after seeing its pictures in magazines, film, or internet. Several months ago I was finally able to visit my dream city, and I have to say it’s a thousand times better than it was in the photos I saw. Most people describe it as a colorful city, and I totally agree with it not only because of the colorful buildings and lights, but also because of the people who live there. I saw many colorful modern churches and houses there. What’s more, I love the local friendly people who make Venice even more colorful as a city. They were always there to offer a helping hand when you were lost or something, they might always smile to you and they were willing to do their best to help you to find your way through the city. So it’s truly an interesting and colorful city.

A historical city I have been to is ___. You know in China, everybody knows it because for quite a long period of time in ancient China, it was the place where the Emperor and his household lived. I took a bunch of my foreign friends there recently. It was fun, even if I had been there several times before. We visited ___, a imperial building which was built nearly 600 years ago if I can remember correctly. It served as a monument to remember the old days of life. What’s more, I love the local friendly people there. They were always there to offer a helping hand when you were lost or something, they might always smile to you and they are willing to help you to find your way through the city. Now, is becoming one of the most famous tourist attractions in China, and every year, tons of people come here to tee this great city because it symbolizes our history and the traditional culture.

A city I visited was Venice. I became more interested in it after seeing its pictures in magazines, film, or internet. Several months ago I was finally able to visit my dream city, and I have to say it’s a thousand times better than it was in the photos I spotted. Well, I wasn’t fully prepared for the beauty and splendor of the buildings there, modern churches, and bridges combined with the friendly people. I visited local neighborhoods and listened to people gossip and play Italian music in their houses. What’s more, the natural sceneries there were breathtaking. It was a really unforgettable experience because you could see those majestic buildings and it made me feel like I have transported back in time. It’s truly an extraordinary city and a place to remember.

A TV program that I have watched is a program called ___. And it’s basically a program often shows a lot of famous tourist attractions around the world. I often watched it during my time off. From this program, I often saw the beauty and splendor of the buildings in some European countries. Also, travelers visited local neighborhoods and listened to people gossip and play local music in their houses. You know, the natural sceneries there were really breathtaking and looking at those majestic buildings often made me felt like I have transported back in time. I think it’s a nice program because it offers me a good chance to see the different parts of the world. An unusual building I know is the CCTV headquarters in Beijing. It’s an interesting and unusual architectural design in my opinion. You know, CCTV is the biggest channel in China and is managed by the government. When it was first built in 2007 if I remember correctly, a lot of people reacted negatively, saying that this building looks like a pair of pants, people still use this nickname today to refer to the CCTV building. It’s actually a 44-storey tower made of glass, with two buildings connected by a twisted pathway in the middle, it looks like two upside down letter Ls, making it look like an strange structure. A lot of people might think it looks weird, but I would say that it’s only one of the many weird buildings all over China, giving my country a reputation of making strange buildings.

A place near water is ___ . It’s my dream destination. It’s located in __ And I’ve seen photos of this place from my friends who had the chance to visit it, it was amazing. Palm trees, clearest and bluest sea, native houses in the middle of the water and stuff like that. Looking at those things gave me the feeling of peace and calm, and I could imagine stepping on this island, forgetting all my troubles back home. One thing impressed me most was an underwater restaurant where you can see fish swimming in blue sea water while you are eating. In the evening, when the weather was generally smooth, you could go for a stroll by the bay, felt the warm ocean breeze on your face or something. The reasons why I like this place is because it offers me a totally different lifestyle, I mean, this place can let me escape from the harsh work life.

Borrowing something

A time I borrowed something from others was borrowing ___ from my cousin. When I was in middle school, ___ was a must-have stuff for young folks. So I nagged my dad many times to buy me one, but he always turned down my request with a cold shoulder and said: you can’t buy it now because it will somehow affect your study. So I felt disappointed. One day afternoon, I came to my cousin’s home and I saw he was sitting there, with a ___ in his hand. To be honest, I knew my chances were quite slim because my cousin was very possessive of his things. But I still wanted have a try, so finally, I gathered up the courage to ask him if I could borrow his ___ from him. I was surprised that he said yes, as long as I agreed to help him with his homework. Needless to say, I felt excited that night. You know, normally, I was not a person who often borrowed things from others, but my cousin just made my dream came true.

Something waste of time

Something that I did which was a waste of time was persuading my dad to buy me a ___. I still remember when I was in middle school, ___ was a must-have stuff for young folks. So I nagged my dad several times to buy me one, but he always turned down my request with a cold shoulder and said: you can’t buy it now because it will somehow affect your study. To be honest, I knew my chances were quite slim, but I never gave up persuading him. One day afternoon, I said to him: dad, listen, I really want a ___. Can you please buy me one if I can get the first place in the final exam. I promise you can take it back if my grades drop. My dad didn’t say anything but told me just do it. Finally, I did a really good job in the exam, but my dad still refused to buy me one. The fact was: I tried everything I could to persuade him but in vain. I thought it was a waste of time because my dad was a stubborn guy and he was always the person who made the final decision.

A traffic jam

A time I was stuck in traffic was like several days ago, I went to the movies with a bunch of friends. You know, in some big cities like Beijing or Shanghai, the traffic congestions are inevitable facts of life, especially during the evening rush hour. The traffic situation was really bad on that day. I didn’t know why, maybe there was a car accident or something, the main road was congested with the traffic of people driving back home. We were stuck in the traffic for nearly 40 minutes and it felt that the bus we took moved 10 meters every 5 minutes. What’s more, there were a lot of people squishing from each other when we were on the bus, the people around us were talking, shouting and complaining a lot, it was like my nightmare. Finally, we felt so exhausted when we arrived the cinema and none of us was in a mood to watch the film. So when it’s rush hour, taking the subway is a better option.
