The humorous saying, “Quitting smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I’ve done it hundreds of times”, illustrates the astonishing yet common occurrence that many people try hard to give up a bad habit but in vain. They fail because they lack a strong will. In fact, nothing succeeds without a strong will.

Take Thomas Edison for example. He is well-known for his large number of inventions which were created through thousands of unsuccessful experiments. Had it not been for his strong will, he would have merely been wasting time and money achieving nothing. Not surprisingly, Edison’s perseverance is actually a common quality among successful people.

As college students, we should bear in mind that a strong will helps set a clear goal for people and provide its owner with the motivation and encouragement in face of difficulties. Indeed, success goes to those who are equipped with a strong will. A man with a strong will is a man who cannot be defeated.

An increasing number of people are getting used to shopping online nowadays and online shopping is really enjoying a boom.

There is no doubt that online shopping has many advantages. First, almost everything you want can be purchased online. Besides, instead of going shopping outdoors, you can just comfortably sit in front of your computer and scan web pages, which certainly saves your time and energy.

However, the disadvantages also arise. Consumers are likely to be cheated because the deal is not made face to face. The purchase they get might not match the descriptions online. Worse still, some shop owners fail to mail the goods after they get the remittance. Then, faced with a large abundance of goods online, buyers often get lost and find it hard to select the ideal items.

In my opinion, some measures can be taken to improve the conditions of online shopping. For instance, government should set down strict regulations to protect the interest of customers. Meanwhile, consumers should be more cautious while purchasing online.

Since anybody can enter a museum without paying, the museums can be overcrowded and it will be a difficult job for museums to maintain their collections. Besides, museums will face financial problems since they can not make profits from the admission fee. Due to the decrease in profits, museums have less motivation to up-date their collections. An out-of-date museum can not avoid the fate to close up in the long run.

In my opinion, free admissions to museums are good for the public, but on the other hand they may pose problems to the museum management. Governments should provide help to museums and guide them to serve the public better.

The most striking feature of this gala is its traditionally close link with ordinary people's lives. Most of people view this gala as an annual staple on the traditional Chinese Spring Festival Eve. They all have a restless night and glue their eyes on the television.

I am not supportive of the view that the grand gala should be abandoned. Undoubtedly, it plays a vital role in the celebration of Chinese New Year. To increase its appeal and meet young adults' need, the upcoming performance should invite some big names including super stars from Honking and Taiwan.
