As can be seen in the picture, there are two pencils lying on a desk. One is young and long, while the other is old and short. The long pencil laughs at the much shorter one, saying “You are nearing the end!” Hearing this, the short pencil says nothing and lies peacefully.

From my perspective, the picture conveys a message that the true value of life is to make contributions to the society. Just like the two pencils in the picture, the long one indeed looks brand new, but it is never used to draw a line, so its existence is quite meaningless. However, the short pencil, though nearing the end of its life, must have drawn many beautiful pictures and devote its life for it. Similar in life, some people fail to make contributions because they are afraid to sacrifice themselves to some extent. But what they don’t know is that the true value of life is to try one’s best to make the world a better place, thus, their life is well-protected but dull as well. On the contrary, some people are dedicated to make great contributions and they live their life to the fullest and achieve their goal.

In conclusion, be that short pencil and make contributions to make our life much more meaningful.

As we can see from the picture, a long pencil and a short pencil are lying on the table. Wearing a big smile, the longer one is thinking that the shorter one is nearing the end. Since the longer one is a new pencil. It is satisfied that it still has a long way to go.

From my point of view, the picture is trying to convey the message that we shouldn’t become too satisfied about what we have at present. The longer pencil is very satisfied that it has a big advantage. Meanwhile, it doesn’t realize that there will be one day when it is in the same condition of the shorter pencil.

The same is true of our life, if we focus too much on the things we have at present, thus don’t work hard in the future. When we lost the advantage we have now, we will regret that we didn’t do anything when we have everything. Cherish the time when we have a long way to go, not be satisfied about we have at present, and we can make our life worthwhile. This is what I get from the picture.

The picture mirrors a common phenomenon in the society today that most young people don’t give old people respect and don’t express their gratitude to what the old people have contributed to the society. However, they look down on their old appearance and weak ability and say something cold or rude to them, which hurts other’s feelings. While I should remind those young people of the truth that they will grow older one day. A long pencil will turn to be a short one finally！What you will feel if other say such cold words to you?

It is important to develop our empathy and show our respect and gratitude to those constructors of the nation in the past. They are heroes because of their devotion to their

career and they set good examples to us “long pencils”. That’s the lesson I learn from the picture.

As is depicted in the picture, on the desk lie two totally different pencils. One is long and new, while the other one is short and old. However, the new one is laughing at the old one, telling him, "You're nearing the end!"

The picture vividly points out that we should never laugh at the old about their near-to-death and uselessness. It's obvious that the old pencil is getting short and worn because he has contributed a lot to humans before, while the new one hasn't done anything valuable as far at all. Therefore, the new one is not qualified to tease the old pencil. So it is with us. Nowadays, many of the young look down to the old and regard them as near-to-death. However, what the old has contributed to the society is far more than the young. Old as they are, they’re more experienced and have devoted themselves to the world. Only then those young men turn old can they realize that how admirable and respectable the old are.

As far as I’m concerned, I’ll never tease at the elderly. Instead, I’ll respect them and devote myself to the society like them, as one’s value to the world holds much more weight than one’s appearance and age.

As is vividly shown in the picture, a long pencil is laughing at a short pencil, thinking that it is nearing the end. However, the short pencil just lies there with a calm expression. I’m strongly opposed the view of the long pencil as I tend to think things that is near run out and people near the end of their career can still make great contributions, so we shouldn’t look down upon them. As is symbolically revealed in the picture, the shorter one still has carbon on the end of it. Which indicates it can still be used to create pictures or lines of words. What’s more, with the eraser on the other end of the pencil, it can also function as a good eraser. Therefore, there's now reason for the long pencil to look down upon it. The truth goes for our daily life. As we all know, Deng Xiaoping led the Reform and open in his seventies, which suggests that people near the end of their life can still make remarkable achievements. So instead of looking down on them, we should learn their board rang of knowledge and precious experience from them and try to understand the wisdom under the calm expressions.

Try to respect and learn from the people "near their end", and we will harward (猜测应是 harvest)a lot.

From the picture we can see a short pencil is lying on the table, while a long pencil is smiling next to it. The long pencil is very happy, thinking that the short one is nearing the end.

I think this thought-provoking picture conveys a message that people should never laugh at the old. The short pencil in the picture symbolized the old people in our daily life. People are all proud of their youth and are happy to have lot of energy. However, it is impossible for

any people to always be young. Everyone will grow old someday. Sometimes people have to

respect the old and help them to enjoy their rest of days of life. They may be sad and anxious

about their being old. We should help them just like how they help us when we were young

and just image what we would feel when we are old. We should never act as the long pencil.

From where I stand help the old and don’t laugh at them and society will be filled with love

and care.

other is extraordinarily short. But what surprises me most is that the long one is laughing at

To my perspective, the vivid picture is a reflection of the fact that we are always tending

to laugh at others, who seem not to be as good as we are. How foolish the action is!

Nowadays, the similar situation is happening in our daily life frequently. For instance, troops

of top students would tease the students who fail to pass the exam. However, to make

ourselves become useful, we must get rid of this terrible habit. Thus, we can become a better

person, a person who is beneficial to our society.

In a word, teasing others, just like the long pencil does in the picture, is a bad habit. What

we should do is help others.

The picture strikes me an idea that we shouldn’t laugh at others just because we have the

easily to be broken to two parts. So it should not laugh at the shorter one just because it is

longer. The same goes in our daily life. A student who is good at math may be poor in

English. So we should value other’s advantage w lack rather than laugh at their shortage.

The action of the young pencil makes the old pencil sad. If the young pencil respects the old

pencil, the old pencil will be happy and the young pencil will also gain respectation when it

The long pen is strong and long, laughing at the short one, which is really old. The long one can be compared to a teenager while the short one is a granny. It is a bad example that the teenager doesn’t know how to show respect to the olds. Unfortunately, it’s common in our daily life. Many young people do rude to olds not respecting them. As far as I’m concerned, we should treat the olds with respect and learn from them. As the saying goes, the older, the wiser. We can acquire a lot of knowledge from them.

As is vividly shown in the picture, a young pencil is tasting the old pencil which has short body and a worn easer.

I think this picture is trying to convey a message to us that Never Cooking down the people who elder than us. I was so angry about the young pencil say. The pencil is nearing the end because they contribute themselves to their career and children. They should get the responsibility, not tasting.

As far as I am concerned, we will become stronger and stronger and our parents will get weaker and weaker. What we should do is not tasting them with some mean words but learning how difficult they are. One day, we will become an old people. By the time, how our next generation will treat us? From my point of view, the picture conveys that we shouldn’t say bad words with others when others is not good, because everyone may face difficult or meet bad time. If you often say bad words with others, you will feel so badly when you become a bad one. And nobody would feel empathy with you.
