English has been getting more and more popular in the last decade. Many countries have made English taught as the second language in schools. But why do students need English? If they do need, what do they need it for?

I think the number one problem is vocabulary. I believe that we can learn English words by heart through reading. If we read so many articles, we can remember lots of words. In language learning, the sense of language is important than grammar, so it is important for us in reading comprehension. What’s more, we can try to communicate with people in English. This is good for our oral English.

In a word, in English learning, we need to persistently practise our listening, speaking, reading and writing. Let's do it now.

As it is widely used in the world, English is learned by almost everyone on earth. People try to master it for different purposes. To learn English well, we should practise it when and where possible.

I prefer my English classes to be taught in English only. As we all know, a good learning environment is vital if we want to study English well. Classes taught in English provide students with such an environment. When English is the only language used in the classroom, students will have more opportunities to practise listening and speaking. Therefore, they will be able to learn more quickly.

However, there are also some problems with this teaching method. As we haven’t mastered enough English words, sometimes we may find it difficult to follow the teacher. Slow learner may even lose interest in English.

Practice makes perfect. To learn English well requires a lot of practice. Therefore, I like my English classes to be taught completely in English.

                 Desires Motivate My Oral English Practice

   As the world becomes more and more globalized, the writer finds it important to practise oral English, and he has paid more attention to it and is determined to get more chance to practise it.

Recently some Chinese educational experts did a survey to find out which festivals are the most favourite ones among middle school students. More than 1,000 students from Beijing and Chengdu participated in the activity. The result shows that over 80% of the students are familiar with our classical festivals. About 50% of the students choose the Spring Festival as their most favourite. Next come Chiristmas Day, Father’s and Mother’s Day and Mid-autumn Day, with 20%, 10% and about 8% respectively.
