As stated in the reading, there are varied serious problems and limitation for archaeologist to study old cultural artifacts in Britain. Yet a professor argues that with the new guideline of the government towards archaeology in three points.

To begin with, the professor contend that the government proceeded with the construction at the same time they did not pay attention to the artifacts mentioned in the reading, is not the truth, he explains, the new guideline asks the local administrators and the archaeologist together to do a construction examine come up with a plan about how to preserve the artifacts before proceed the construction.

In addition, the speaker argue with that there is not enough financial support towards the protect project by saying that the new guideline require the construction company instead of the government to offer the subsides. This financing could be enough for the site research and artifacts preserving.

The last but not the least importantly, contrary to the belief that it is difficult to have a profession in archaeology, the professor indicates that many paid-work are offered in archaeology such as drawing a plan towards preservation, doing professional research, analyzing datum.

The writer pointed out that archaeology in Britain had serious problems and limitations, whereas the professor introduced the new guidelines, implemented by UK in 1990, that improved the situation of archaeology in the passage.

First, the new guidelines provide that a construction site be examined of its archaeological interest before any project planned on it can proceed. If the site owns certain archaeological value, relevant people must make a preservation plan to protect the archaeological artifacts. This measure successfully addresses the first problem mentioned in the reading -- the loss of precious artifacts resulted from construction projects.

Second, the new guidelines state that the construction company must fund any archaeological work done on the construction site, from the initial examination to the following work under the preservation plan. This rule means a new source of financial support and allows more archaeological sites to be studied, which solves another problem listed in the reading -- the inadequate funding.

Third, the new guidelines actually create many more jobs in archaeology. These expert archaeologists will be hired at various stages of process, such as examination, preservation, research and documentation. Increased career opportunities in this field boost the number of professional archaeologists to the highest and eliminate the last problem in the reading -- the insufficient job positions.

Student Health Services Need Improvement

The situation at the health center is unacceptable: you sit in a crowded waiting room for hours waiting to get treatment for minor ailments. Then when it’s your turn, you get about three minutes with an overworked doctor. I have two suggestions first; the health center needs to hire more doctors so that each patient receives quality treatment. And as far as the wait time issue is concerned \, the health center is currently open only Monday through Fridays, which means that people who get sick over the weekend wait until the following week to get treatment so, opening the health center on weekends should solve that problem too.

Sincerely,

Megan Finch

Social loafing

When people work in groups to perform a task, individual group members may feel less motivated to contribute, since no one person is held directly responsible for completing the task. The result is that people may not work as hard, or accomplish as much, as they would if they were working alone and their individual output were being measured. This decrease in personal effort, especially on a simple group task, is known as social loafing. While it is not a deliberate behavior, the consequence of social loafing is less personal efficiency when working in groups than when working on one’s own.
