【21世纪演讲稿】University as I see it

University as I see it

Xu Jing

When I was in the primary school, I thought university was a paradise without homework. When I was in the high school, I thought university was my future---decent job, good salary and high social status. But, when I really get into the university, I think university is place where I can be a better person.

First of all, university gives us the chance to learn a wide range of knowledge. All the courses including literature, poetry, philosophy, history and basic scientific principles are open to us. Besides, there are large droves of books in the library that we can get for free. How convenient! We can savor the pleasure of acquiring further knowledge by ourselves! It’s said that learning one knowledge means learning one aspect of our society, so when we’re exposed to all kinds of knowledge, we can know more about the society and discover the greatest fruition of ourselves.

Secondly, university stimulates our enthusiasm for learning many eternal issues. Taking my own experience for example, I did a lot of volunteer work in my first year. I still remember the smiling face of the old people

in gerocomium. I still remember the small gift a homeless girl slipped in my bag. I still remember the grateful looks of the three foreigners when I showed them around Hangzhou. All of these volunteering experiences illuminated a new trail for me. This trail leads to the true essence of happiness, that is, helping others, gaining self-esteem and feeling fulfilled.

Thirdly, university allows us to make mistakes time after time and witnesses our growth. This kind of feeling is like walking through the tunnel. We walk very slowly, because we can’t see any light. Some are afraid of falling on the ground, so they cease to walk, keep silent in the darkness. But others who never step back will see the sunrise in the end of the tunnel. University is like the tunnel, as long as we have the courage to make mistakes, we can be mature and strong.

That is the University as I see. It is the place where I can be a better me. It is the place where I can be what I want to be, not others want to see. But I know, there is no definition of the university that is agreed by all, or even most. I only want to tell all my dear friends, keep your head and live with no regrets.

第二篇:University as I see it我理解的大学

University as I see it

When I was very little, my mother told me that you have to enter a university, or your future life was in dark. Then, I kept her words in mind and I studied hard to catch up her requirement. Thus, at that age, university as I see is the way I can embrace a brilliant life.

As time went by, I went into high school. I still remembered the first day in high school the head teacher wrote THE KEY UNIVERSITY on the blackboard and said to us the only one thing you should do here is to go there(she pointed to the that three words extremely seriously). In the last year of high school, all the teachers push us to do files of exercise paper, urge us to read materials in the very early morning, cut off our all spare time but portray the blueprint of four-year attractive university life. University as I see is just like a heaven where I can not only get rid of nightmare high school life but also enjoy wonderful time. Unluckily, I didn’t went to a key university, just entered an ordinary school. Anyway, I am a university student.

With the expectation of the bright future and the easy life, I have embraced my university life. I feel like that I were a free bird flying in the broad sky. Without worrying the examination score, ignoring parents’ chattering and putting teachers’ pressure aside. However, after some time, the life in university I have experienced is totally out of my imagination. In university, most of students are hustle and bustle: some hurry from clubs to students’ union to enrich their life, some focus on the part-time job to gain working experience, some are engaged in acquiring kinds of certificates to build up employed confidence. Senior students told me that nowadays many graduates had struggled to find jobs and those who had now face a long, hard grind to save money, climb the career ladder and start a family. I have to say the utopia of university as I used to see is disillusioned. Recently, there has been an ongoing heated debate whether going to university is necessary. A typical example here comes that a father, from Sichuan province, deprive of his daughter’s right to seek for university. The father said that university is the place of wasting time and money. The research was taken to find out that the father didn’t have university diploma and all his expressions is from others’ words. University as I see, a junior student with her own eyes, is the significant period of our whole life and the place where you could build your outlook on world and life. University as I see is not a greenhouse for us to grow older but is more like a laboratory where we can make trials to catch our thoughts even unrestrained or vigorous, we wouldn’t be given severe punishment by failing.

University is not the tower of ivory where you can only enjoy yourself but a epitome of society where you can gain a lot.
