The Concert Review

Last August 12th, I listened to a concert in Guangzhou Xinghai Concert hall in Guangdong province in China. The concert was a classical Austrian folk ballad by Austria Wilton Children's Choir. The choir is one of my favorite children's choir and also one of the most traditional

children's choirs in Europe. Choir members range from 9 to 22. Their tones are so outstanding that they can convert among tenor, soprano, bass and contralto. They can also present a musical work in variety of forms, such as solo, duet, small musical drama and church sitcoms. The choir has not only had performances in Austria for many times, but also been invited to visited Belgium,

Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, the Czech republic and Japan. No matter where they perform, they leave the audience a very deep impression. Therefore, they are known as “the angel of Jesus". After listening to the concert, I was really moved. The children are angels sent to the world for the spread of music. All in all, I think they are worth of the name of “the Sounds of Nature”.

This was their first time to China. So the choir carefully selected the concert repertoire for the Chinese audience. Beethoven's "Ode to Joy", Mozart's "Song for the Lord" and the wonderful passage of his opera "Magic Flute" and some Austrian folk songs such as "ah, a little Tirolean man!" were all in the list. In addition, two well-known Chinese songs "in Silver Moonlight" and "Farewell" were also presented tor the audience. While listening, I was amazed at the perfect performance of all the music works, especially its perfect timbre, harmony, stage performances, and its unique folk customs. All of these are melted into a sense of beauty. Their voice is pure and graceful with no social impurities. They can take well control of their breath to make a flowing and smooth sound which is quite expressive. At the same time, in the choir, every child has the ability of independent performance. They can not only sing, but also play a musical instrument, which is what I admire the most. The ethnic musical instrument which they play is full of local characteristics, such as "big trumpet in the Alps”, “hand (tube) organ”, “zither”, “Austrian national wooden flutes” and so on. I was really glad to listen to this concert and amazed at their melodious tweedle, and rich expressive force.

What I am most interested in is how they acquire today's achievements in the music. Personally, I think there should be several reasons as follows: first, they have the outstanding art director; second, they have the right music education philosophy. Perhaps in their mind, music is not used to practice, but to enjoy by means of "playing"; third, their living environment is filled with rich and deep artistic atmosphere. In Austria, there are a large number of famous musicians. Vienna, the capital of Austria, is also the music capital of the world. So music culture has long been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Music itself is closely connected with people’s life. It is more than just the “patents” of music workers, but become more of a mass culture. Their life therefore, is permeated with the beauty of music everywhere. Besides, the government's attention is also one key point. The Austrian government not only attaches great importance the education and popularization of music culture, but also actively put their own culture to the world. Last but not least, they make full use of their gene advantages and language habits, which can help form a best sound and singing sound.

The Wilton's chorus is endowed with the same style of their "music township" Tirol. Tirol has a rich history, a traditional culture, and beautiful natural scenery. It was also because of this that the children are endowed with the truest feelings. The world, therefore, can hear the sounds of nature, and see the purest natural stage performance.
