When I was in middle school, I was fond of playing table tennis. Then I took part in a contest, hoping to be the champion. However, instead of practicing, I just kept repeating my goal. It turned out that I lost the game, which upset me. Looking at my disappointed face, my father told me the saying. After that, I spent a lot of time practicing, which led to my success in the next year.

前几天，我学到一句格言：“虚心使人进步，骄傲使人落后”你说，我是从哪里学来的？那可说得从前几天我数学成绩进步开始说起了。

那天，沈老师发现我数学成绩进步了，字也有明显的好转了，就夸了我两句。我被夸得得意忘形，好像踩在云朵上，飘飘然的。回家后，竟对爸爸夸下海口：“你的儿子进步了，你给我出几道数学题，保证做得全对！”爸爸看我那一副洋洋自得的模样，就说：“好吧，就给你出几道题吧！”我漫不经心地说：“快出吧！”

爸爸说：“一个西瓜切4刀，有9块果肉10块皮。该怎么切？”我脱口而出：“太简单了，切成井字形不就行了？”爸爸说：“算你答对了。”我高兴得几乎要跳起舞来。我说：“快出第二道题吧！”爸爸说：“第二个问题可有点难度啰！”我说：“什么难题不难题，我都能迎刃而解。”“你这个小子，人不大，口气倒不小！”爸爸接着说了第二个问题，“12个同学，去买汽水，商店正在搞促销活动，买3瓶送一瓶，那么，他们一共需要买几瓶汽水？”我摸着头：“这??那??”我丈二和尚摸不着头脑，脸憋得通红，就是想不出答案。我只好举起手“投降”：“爸爸，我认输啰！”
