The book I am going to introduce is “A Christmas Carol” written by the renowned English writer Charles Dickens. The whole story is about the transition of a once successful but miserly and cold businessman, Ebenezer Scrooge. Scrooge was crazy over money and from his perspective, Christmas was nothing but an excuse for those idlers to escape from work. He referred Christmas to humbug which meant dishonest or insincere things. However, during this Christmas Eve, he was visited by three spirits, the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present, the Ghost of Yet to Come. The Ghost of Christmas Past reminded him of the warmth and happiness he used to have with his sister, master worker and fiancée. The Ghost of Christmas Present took him to his employee’s and cousin’s house who were celebrating the festival to the top of their bent, though they were not as rich as Scrooge. The last spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come exposed the lonely and miserable future he would be confronted with. After this seemingly eerie journey with the three spirits, Scrooge began to ponder over the truth of life. Eventually, he became a person who knew how to keep Christmas well.
