People attend colleges or universities for a lot of different reasons. I believe that the three most common reasons are to prepare for a career, to have new experiences, and to increase their knowledge of themselves and the world around them.

Career preparation is becoming more and more important to young people. For many, this is the primary reason to go to college , They know that the job market is competitive. At college, they can learn new skill for careers with a lot of opportunities. This means careers, such as information technology, that are expected to need a large workforce in the coming years.

对待学生严肃严格的老师比幽默好相处的老师教学更有效果，同意与否？

结构：

不同意该观点。也许就“记住老师说的东西”而言，是更有效率，然而就教育本身的效果的而言却是低效，因为学生失去了思考的机会。

1. 严肃又严格的老师所在的课堂内，学生的主动性降低，气氛过于紧张，不利于他们思考，而幽默轻松的环境里学生的思维活跃，对所学的印象也深；

2. 有的老师严格要求学生记住所学的内容，这无形中建立了学生和老师的教条关系。不利于学生的主动学习。教学应该是启发求知欲的产生，使得学生产生自己去探索的愿望；

3. 幽默和容易相处的固然能够活跃气，使学生更舒服，但作为老师，对学生还是应该保持一些必要的影响，在他们犯错误的时候纠正他们，使其信服。

托福写作辅导：托福考试满分作文欣赏（１）

As knowledge and experience serve as twim towers in problem-solving, one is often presented with two major paths that pave the way for final fulfillment, eitther to wrack his brain, just like what happened to Neuton, siiting for many years under an apple tree and eventually figuring out ond of the greatest universal rules that govern the whole globe, or to seek for others’ widsom through their advice, just as in the case of Benjinin Franklin, gathering great minds under one roof and then establishing a most world-renown libray. Both ways work. When a practical goal is involved, however, Benjimin Franklin may best be regareded as a role model in this respect and asking people for advice often turn out to be the prime alternative. Experience and knowledge borrowed or learned from others’ advice contribute greatly to effectiveness and effeciency for a goal-accomplishment. Not all experience and knowledge related to problem-solving can be obtained by personal effort alone due to limitations of mind and capabilities of each individual. A single thought in someone’s mind is, more often than not, far less shining compared with group’s wisdom. That explains the famous old saying that one sees further when standing upon the shoulders’ of past great giants; that explains why a great leader is always with greater minds; that also explains why teamwork in corperation is highly emphasized in

托福心得(感谢那些默默帮助我们的人们)

经过20多天的奋斗，我对于寄托家园、无老师的博客、Tony课堂、太傻这些无私的网站产生了深厚的感情，更对经营这些网站的T友们表示崇高的敬意，特别要感谢无老师的教诲和Saavedro版主的诸多巨作。我无以为报，只有写写东西来抒发一下情感。以下的经验很多都来自高手们的指点，绝对不是我的原创，没有他们的指点也就没有我今天对TOEFL考试的认识。我想我做的工作就是把那些高人们指点我并对我个人最有益处的东西进行了一下整合而已。先说说今天（09.11.08）考托福的感受吧。整体来说，托福还是一个非常棒的考试，无论是从出题思维还是题的质量都可谓用心良苦。学托福肯定是能提高情商，也能让你更eloquent的。所以我觉得吧，学托福真的不仅仅是为了考试而考试，而是真的应该通过它来提高both Academic Skill and iBT scores as well。还是不胡扯了。开始说正经的。

生命中，不断地有人离开或进入。于是，看见的，看不见的；记住的，遗忘了。生命中，不断地有得到和失落。于是，看不见的，看见了；遗忘的，记住了。然而，看不见的，是不是就等于不存在？记住的，是不是永远不会消失？

适合用来练习精听的材料包括：老托福听力材料中，Part C的lectures和新托福iBT的lectures。新托福iBT的lectures很长，大家可以分成几次来练听写。如果你就剩一两个月就要去参加考试，一定记住所有的练习内容都应该是和你要参加考试直接相关的材料。

第一步：总听全文

既然叫总听，就是不要陷入文章内容的细节。总听只做两件事：一是明确主题，大概知道这个段落讲了什么事。二是寻找逻辑。英文文章的逻辑包括什么呢？只要能简单判断出这篇文章是按时间顺序写的还是空间顺序；是现象解释还是两种观点的比较等。所以在总听第一遍的时候，关注那些起承转合的词，可以帮我们快速把握文章的逻辑关系。

比如你听一篇段落，听到in the past，那你的预期就该是，后面可能会提到now，也许还有in the future。听到“一些人认为”，那你的反应应该是，接下来会谈“另一些人或者我认为的”。以前大家对于这样的能够提示你文章逻辑关系或顺序的词是不敏感的。总是在听写第一遍的时候就陷入细节。
