Is It The Only Way Out To Go To College?

We had a discussion about whether it is the only way out for senior students to go to college. Views vary from person to person.

The majority of us consider it very necessary to go to college, for they think that it can widen their knowledge and improve their qualities, and that only in this way can they find better jobs after graduation. Very few students, about ten percent of the students, think it no use going university, because the tuition is too high for their family to afford. What’s more, it’s rather hard for college graduates to seek satisfactory jobs. Thirty percent of the students, however, believe “All roads lead to Rome”, and therefore, it doesn’t make any difference whether they go to college or not. In my opinion, we can receive a better education at college so that we can make greater contribution to our country.

Over the past twenty years or so, great changes have taken place in our life. Take my family for example. My parents kept in contact with their friends and relatives mainly by sending letters in the past, but now we make long distance phone calls at home. And my parents used to listen to the radio for news and other information, but now we watch the news and other programs on TV. What’s more, another big change is in the housing conditions. When they got married about twenty years ago, my parents lived in a small room crowded with furniture, but now we have moved into a big new three-room apartment. Dear Bob,

Thank you for your last letter asking about our library.

In the centre of the school stands our library, with a beautiful garden in front and the classroom building behind it. So big is our library that it owns many shelves full of books on different subjects. Besides, there are also a lot of newspapers and magazines for us to read and borrow from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day except on weekends.

If we want to borrow any book there, we can each borrow up to 5 books at a time and keep them for ten days. Our library is so beautiful that we all like it very much.

Best wishes,
