My name is***, D.O.B. is **/**/1981. I'm now applying for a work permit to Canada as a visiting scholar. I am writing this letter for your kind consideration for a temporary resident visa for my son so that he can accompany me to Canada.

The invitation for me is from Dr. ** who is an assistant professor (research) in University of Calgary. Dr. ** and I collaborated well when she was in **University, China. We have similar interests in research on the regulation of smooth muscle functions. So, I will take this opportunity to continue the collaboration with Dr. **for another one year.

As you can see in the attached family photos, my husband and I have a son. His name is **. This lovely boy was born on **/**/2012. We have a big family and everyone loves him very much. One-year separation from his mother might be too difficult for this little boy. Although my husband also loves our son very much and will miss him, he agrees to let him accompany me to Canada. He will visit us when he is on vacation. We have enough funding, including the fund of $24,000 provided by Dr. ** and the savings of about $14,000 provided by ourselves, to cover all of our expenses in Canada.

My son’s name is not in the invitation letter for me. I talked with Dr. ** about bringing my son with me to Canada the first time she called me on inviting me to be a Visiting Scholar in her laboratory. She agreed with it. However, she said it was their routine not to interfere with other’s private life. Also, she suggested me to invite my family to visit Canada after I have arrived there. These are the reasons why my son’s name is not mentioned in the invitation letter. I prefer to going to Canada with my son because we all want him to be happy. We will come back to China as soon as the one-year visiting is finished. Of course, they will stay no longer than admitted, because we have a harmony big family living in our home country and we love each other.
