Presentation about Stevie Wonder ChenShuyan

Good morning, class. Today I’m here to talk more about this legend. I will focus on his life under the spotlight.

There was a turning point in his life. That was 1973 when he was 23 years old and an serious car accident occurred to him. We all knew the truth at last through thick and thin. So did Stevie. He suddenly understood the meaning of life and tried to make it more meaningful. He started to devote to the peace and charity. He was an active part in political field as well.

And do you know that in 1980, he released an album called <Hotter Than July>? He just wanted to convey that his enthusiasm in social activities is always hotter than July. And he was going to call on more people to participate in social events.

What’s more, in this album, a song named “happy birthday” was written to honor the civil rights leader Dr.Martin Luther King.

As we can see, Stevie has a strong connection with King. In 1981, he collected 6 million signatures to support the establishment of anniversary for Dr.Martin Luther King. And finally in 1983, the anniversary was written in the law code. It was in 1986 that people celebrate the day for the first time. They are both Negroes with great dedication and they all have the dream for peace and a better world.

Then here comes our most familiar song we are the world. Michael Jackson and 45 music stars sang this song to raise money for the hungry in Africa. There was no doubt that Stevie played an important role in this song and contributed a lot.

Recently, he was honored by the president of South African Nelson Mandela for his action against racial discrimination.

He was also honored the United Nations Messenger of Peace because his great efforts to help UN. He gave his performance on UN concert for many time and just few days before he said his song happy birthday I just said with Kpop stars. And the UN sectary PanKiMoon gave him a high praise.

He also raised many donations to social vulnerable groups like obesity people and disabled people and so on. He organized this concert house full of toys to collect toys for poor children.

This is Stevie Wonder. He can be one of the 100 all-time top artists not only because all his hit songs but also accounting for his great social work. We really appreciate his work and his great spirit.
