THE SOUND OF SILENCE 寂静之声(《毕业生》主题曲)

在19xx年作为美国电影《毕业生》的主题歌，非常受欢迎。本来是3年前，莎尔蒙和卡尔方灌制的曲子，迪夫-古鲁吉把这首曲子巧妙地电影音乐化了。

出自19xx年奥斯卡特级经典电影，影帝达斯汀·霍夫曼主演的《毕业生》，是60、70年代美国年轻人最喜爱看的电影之一。对于中国的80年代到90年代间的大学生说，这部电影几乎是他们接触西方文明和青年生活的窗口。自然这部电影优美而质朴的音乐也是令他们着迷的原因之一。《毕业生》电影原声专辑是由美国著名的民谣组合保罗·西蒙与加芬克尔负责制作的。这张专辑也 使保罗·西蒙与加芬克尔成为了大牌明星。《寂静之声》旋律飘缓低迷，歌词充满了一种幻觉般的意境。细细听来，仿佛在诉说着年轻无助的一种宣泄。眼前似乎看到一个懵懂无知的女孩，独自一人行走在铺着鹅卵石的狭窄、清冷的小巷里，喧嚣的人群在她身后渐渐远去，前面是没有尽头的黑夜……歌曲如果说是属于民谣的话似乎太深邃，如果说随着强劲的乐曲而震荡的节奏是摇滚的话，却太细腻，音乐上它造就了类的中和体，这应该是它成功的最大原因。

保罗·西蒙

保罗·西蒙(Paul Simon)，19xx年10月13日生于美国新泽西州的纽瓦克，从小崇拜歌星普莱斯利，十一、二岁时开始学习唱歌和弹吉它，16岁时与中学同窗好友阿特·加芬克尔(Art Garfunkel)组成男声二重唱，开始了早期的演唱生涯。后来西蒙进入大学学习法律，19xx年从法学院退学只身赴英国学习文学。

西蒙和加芬克尔六十年代后期开始风靡多年的重唱可说是流行音乐史上的最佳重唱，西蒙的嗓音松弛自然，加芬克尔音色轻柔高洁，两人的和声如诗如梦一般丰富多彩，令人魂牵梦绕。以至于今天在他们分手十多年后人们仍然习惯地把他们当作一个人挂在嘴边。他们重唱的成就有目共睹：19xx年，他们合作的第二张专辑《寂静之声》，同名单曲在美国排行榜上获得冠军；19xx年为影片《毕业生》所配的插曲《斯卡泊罗集市》获奥斯卡最佳电影插曲奖；《罗宾逊太太》同时获格莱美最佳录音奖；19xx年推出的《忧愁河上的金桥》获得极大成功，在英美两国排行榜上均名列第一唱片销售量超过900万张，当年就获得“最佳唱片”、“最佳单曲”等数项格莱美大奖。还有其它多个脍炙人口的歌曲如《回乡之旅》、《凯西之歌》、《拳击手》、《美国寻梦》等等，皆出自这两位黄金搭档的合作。他们的演唱配合得天衣无缝，表现手法变化多端，保罗·西蒙优美的诗一般的歌词，以及定于戏剧色彩的吉它演奏，与加芬克尔对声音细腻的处理完美结合，确立了他们二人的重唱在音乐史上不可动摇的地位。

七十年代初，保罗·西蒙与加芬克尔各自去独立开创事业，在各自的艺术道路上都建树颇丰。保罗·西蒙的音乐风格有所改变，他迷上了第三世界音乐，他把南美音乐、牙买加音乐和爵士乐都融入到自己的音乐当中，推出的第一张个人专辑《保罗·西蒙》反响很好。他开始脱离原来的民摇摇滚风格，成为了浒音乐中最引人注目的控索者之一。19xx年他的专辑《这些年来仍然疯狂》使他达到了个人成就的第一个高峰，获得当年格莱美奖中的最佳专辑和最佳浒歌手两项大奖。19xx年，了为纪念“猫王”普莱斯利逝世十周年，西蒙花了一年时间深入南非，运用当地音乐素材精心制作的专辑《恩赐大地》出版，乐评界称之为流行音乐风潮中吹进的一股清风。在流行摇滚全球融合方面从前的伤口都不及《恩赐大地》这么深刻，它将多种形式的南部非洲黑人民摇和美国摇滚结合在一起，配合以奇妙的音响效果，形成一种全然不同、形式古怪的歌曲，整个唱片的卓越的艺术飘逸和控索性令人兴奋。 这张专辑两年获得格莱美大奖。

19xx年，西蒙又创下现场演出观众最多的纪录，在美国的一次演出中，有70多万观众参加，可见其受欢迎程度，同年又推出了一张风格有所突破的新专辑《圣洁的旋律》。19xx年，西蒙开始题为“生逢佳时”的世界巡回演出，其中一站广州是西蒙首次访华演出，给中国观众留下深刻的印象。

西蒙常被冠以作曲家、歌唱家和吉它手的美誉，实际上再加上诗人也不过分。早

年与加芬克尔的重唱以及后来个人演唱的作品，绝大多数出自于他的笔下，歌词首首都是优美的诗歌。他的歌曲旋律优美迷人，大部分作品都被改编为轻音乐。他的音乐创作风格多种多样，他感触敏锐，思想深刻，更惊人的是他每首歌曲的词与音乐的配合都是那么和谐，效果出奇地完美。

保罗·西蒙是当今美国歌坛少有的常青树，从19xx年出道至今已经50多年，其间有多少歌手兴盛衰败，而他凭借自己的卓越天才和实力至今仍然是歌坛上的耀眼巨星。
