在所有的《福尔摩斯探案集》的故事里，我最喜欢的还是“蓝宝石之谜”这一个故事。这个故事讲了在圣诞节那天的夜晚，福尔摩斯的朋友彼得森捡到了一只鹅和一顶帽子，上面都写着亨利·贝克这个名字，而且福尔摩斯还在鹅的肚子里发现了一颗蓝宝石，而这颗蓝宝石正是前几天莫卡伯爵夫人在“世界旅馆”遗失的，于是，福尔摩斯通过一系列的调查、追踪，最后终于抓住了事情的真凶，而被诬陷的管道工约翰·霍纳得以获释。但最后的结果出人意料，福尔摩斯竟然放走了真凶詹姆士·赖德，并且还说了一句：“现在是美好的圣诞节，我们何乐而不为呢？”
