The adventures of Tom Sawyer

I have already read the book called The adventures of Tom Sawyer, because I was advised by my best friend. The adventures of Tom Sawyer was written by Mark Twain in 1876.Although the book has been written for ages, it is also read by many young people around the world today. So it is very popular and great.

The adventures of Tom Sawyer is a story of Tom Sawyer and his friends adventures of looking for the treasures. Tom lived in the quiet street of St Petersburg, Missouri with his aunt Polly. Tom always plays games with his friends. But he finds himself in many exciting adventures. So he run away with his friends to an island in the middle of the Mississippi River to look for some treasures. Finally, they found a box of gold in a cave.

My favourite scene in the story is when everyone thought Tom was dead. He decided to go to his own funeral. So he hid and watched for a time and suddenly he appeared. Everyone was surprised to see him but they arte also pleased to see him alive. The themes of the story are to do with children’s growing and becoming more serious. Finally, it talked about freedom, social rules and how people are punished for bad behaviour. And although it’s only a story, Mark Twain wrote it in the everyday English of the southern states of America in the 19th century, so it sounds very real.

There are many characters and Tom is the hero of the story. Tom sawyer is a clever and young boy. But he’s unlucky, his parents thrown away him. He’s adventurous and naughty .But he also loved helping the poor people. For example, he helped a little boy called Jim and he’s a black man. His aunt was called Polly, a old woman. She wears a pair of glasses, she was pound of the glasses. Because of Tom’s hooky. She was always very fierce to Tom. Tom tormented her old heart almost break .Although she wanted to whip him, when Tom disappeared. She was worried about him a lot.

Huckleberry Finn, the son of the town drunk. And he’s hated and dreaded by people of the town, because he’s idle, lawless, vulgar and bad, and because all children admired him. Like the rest of the respectable boys, Tom envies strict orders not to play with him, so he played with him every time when he got a chance Huckleberry came and went at his own free would. and he could swear wonderfully .In a word, everything that went to make life precious for a boy. So thought every troubled, bothered, respectable boy in St Petersburg.

Becky is a pretty girl with the fair hair. And she’s a lovely girl. And Indian Joe was a dad man in the story.

The end of the story, they found the bad man’s dead body in a cave. Then Tom and Hunk went to Tom’s secret entrance to the cave, and explored the area where the bad man had been hidden. They found a

hidden pit in the cave ,where bad man had hidden the money he had stolen from the grave he and Muff Potter had robbed. There was many gold. Tom was happy because he could use the cave for a hiding place to play robbers with the boys. Finally, Huck was given a home by a old widow.

After reading it, I wanted to read it again and I wanted to know that how about the Tom and his friends. It’s my favourite book of the adventures. Go on—read it! I know you will love it, too.

The Adventures of Tom sawyer was written by Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens), who was famous for his humor .He was a well-known American novelist as well as a productive author. The most obvious character of his articles was that all his words were sharp but humorous. Mark Twain has a deep effect on the development of American literature; he introduced colloquial speech into American fiction and he was called Lincoln of literature history.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was one of Mark Twain’s most famous novels which drew on his youth in Hannibal. It narrated a group of children and their adventures. The character was a witty and brave boy called Tom Sawyer who was naughty but clever. Since his parents were dead, Tom stayed with his aunt, a stern but kind woman, and she loved Tom very much. But he was very active and hates study, instead, he often left class to go fishing, play games as well as collect some odds and ends with an unwelcomed boy named Huck, who was his best friend and his partner in his later adventures. What’s more, he even fell in love with a pretty girl called Becky and pursued her with his full passion.

Tom’s real adventure began in one midnight when he and Huck went to grave land, accidently, they saw a murder case. Three men doctor Robison, Indian Joe and Potter argued furiously. Under the uncontrolled anger, Indian Joe killed the doctor and pulled the crime to the unconscious Potter. This cruel scene frightened them so deep that they swore to keep this secret. Later, because Tom thought there was no people care about him even Becky, he and Huck went away from home to an island by craft and he went there for the dream of being a pirate. As people in the town didn’t know where they gone, they all thought that they had been drowned in the sea. Just when their funeral was being held, they came back. So they soon became heroes in school for their unusual experience. Becky also got peace with him.

But soon, the court was about to make that murder case. Tom overcame his scare and told the truth but Indian Joe ran away. Then when Tom and Huck went to a ghostly house for treasure, they found Indian Joe and his partner had 第 1 页 共 2 页

discovered a part of the treasure. At the same time, they also heard the name of another place where hide treasure. So they decided to look for it. Several days later, Tom and his friends went out for a picnic, but unexpectedly, he and Becky lost touch with others in the cave. There, they suffered from hunger, thirst, darkness and scare, what’s worse, the saw Indian Joe in the cave. This time, Tom’s intelligence saved them. He made use of a kite and though it found the place to go out. However, aunt Poly, Becky’s family as well as other people believed they must dead in the cave, and they were in great sorrow. But in fact, after they got out the cave, they were saved by some warm-hearted people and they sent them back. Then the cave was shut. Since Tom knew that Indian Joe was still in it, he told Becky’s father—the judge. However when the cave was opened, they found that Indian Joe already dead.

Later after carefully analysis, Tom judged that the treasure must be hidden in the cave by Indian Joe, so he and Huck risk again. They back to the cave and this time they got the box that Joe left, in which contained treasure. Of course, both of them became rich and well-known.

The wonderful adventures of Tom Sawyer is interesting and exciting, what’s more precious, it was full of the pure idea of children. Although their judgments and conducts seem ridiculous and bold, their brave and intelligence made us adults even admire. They just do as they thought; pursue what they want without consideration. When they didn’t like something, they just struggle against it instead of following it even though it may be useful for their future. That are just things we are losing now. From this novel, we not only got happiness and the feeling of childhood but also some precious spirits which are helpful in our way of searching happiness.
