Childhood and My University

Maksim Gorky (1868-1936) - born on March 16 (New Style March 28) 1868 - pseudonym Gorky means "bitter", originally Aleksei Maximovich Peshkov

Russian short story writer, novelist, autobiographer and essayist, whose life was deeply interwoven with the tumultuous revolutionary period of his own country,. Gorky ended his long career as the preeminent spokesman for culture under the Soviet regime of Joseph Stalin. Gorky formulated the central principles of Socialist Realism, which became doctrine in Soviet literature. The rough, socially conscious naturalism of Gorky was described by Chekhov as "a destroyer bound to destroy everything that deserved destruction."

Childhood and my university was written by Maxim Gorky, I don’t know why I want to read this book, but when I finish it, I know that it’s worth reading, even it takes much my time and energy; I learn much from it, how to say. My thought is just like an empty box, but when I finish it, that box is filled with much beautiful things and valuable experience.

Childhood tells us a story about a boy, Alexei. At the beginning of the story, the

author makes all the readers into a small dark house, and a man lay in this dusky room. Then we know the man was Alexei’s father, he would die. His mother was kneeling beside him and her grey eyes were swollen and seed melting into large tears. His mother went somewhere. After his father had died, Alexis lived with his grandmother and grandfather. His grandmother was like a very kind and gentle women. On the contrary, his grandmother had a hot temper. He always shouted at and beat him. But in some certain sense, he also cared about Alexia. There was always quelling in his family and between their neighbors. He was forbidden to go out to play with others. He had few friends. He met all kinds of people. But he didn’t meet his mother until a Sunday morning. His mother came back to go in to him. But his mother’s coming didn’t reduce the family’s quelling in some degree, which increases it. In Alexei’s surprise the home didn’t interest his mother. She married again, and gave birth to two kids, with the marriage, her mother became more and more weaker, and last his stepfather desert -ed her, when she died with disappointment.

How about my universities. In fact it was not a real university, to making living, he leaves university to work. He worked at the bakery. He must be working fourteen hours a day. Because he could tell story, everyone likes him. The Derenkovs and some university’s students’ view had a big influence on him. He always liked the speech from the college students. Time fly, he had a strong eager to teach all the people with his own knowledge and experience. Alexei learned from the worker, the poor, the police. At last he became a learned, experienced people. Most people thought that he was the cleverest boy

When we name childhood, there are always endless beautiful stories which are beyond our ability to tell. That time we had many friends to play with. We are free like the birds. But Alexei’s childhood was different. Hardly could he feel the love of the father when did his father leave him, and then his mother left him. He lived with grandmother and grandfather. He was forced to stay in the home, just because that he was a naughty boy. He was always beaten outside. To prevent him from any harm her grandmother trapped him in the house. His grandmother didn’t want him to lose face. He was naughty but very clever. He had a special character which just belongs to children. It’s seems that liking nature is the gift that God give to children. He was always struck by beautiful scenery. The tinkle stars, the blue sky, the white snow. In his eyes, all of these were the most beautiful things in the world. He also engaged in the sweet music of birds .He had keen eyes about everyone and everything. There may be a scale in his heart, one point was beautiful, kind and good, the other point was ugly and bad .But he felt that the scale always loses balance, which made him angry and scared .He longed for good things and hated ugly things .He was sensitive with everything and he had sympathy with the people around him .He was a good listener, I can not forget how he feel comfortable when he listened to the Mr. That Fine. He made the lonely man feel happy, he could understand him with his own heart .He told us that no one is strange and cold without any reason, all of us need understanding and care .The one who has no love, he will just want to shut the door of Soul and refused to talk with others

Alexei had a different experience ,so he had a different ability because it took

him a little time to play ,and took much time to think and look ,so he had a strong capable of thinking .He always lost himself in his own imagination .The space of his living was limited but his imagination was unlimited .Although he was always beaten by his grandfather , in some certain sense ,this was not a bad thing ,he knew being beaten was a kind of wealth ,which could make a person become human .That beating also gave him courage and strength to make him to grow up to a strong and brave boy .

As a boy he met all kinds of people, bad, good .but from them he learned much valuable things. His grandfather was a hot temper .He was also angry with him and beat him .But he taught him that man should rely on himself, human should be independent and brave .If you are a coward you will be destroyed by your weakness. And no one should be sympathy .His grandmother was like an angel in his eyes, she could stand any sorrows and insults., she could forgive everyone ,she believed in God .She made herself like loyal worship . She gave the love which Alexei could not owe; because that love just could be given by his mother .He met Mr. That Fine. He knew human beings need communication with each other .There was a wild field in everyone’s heart. If there is no love, which will be occupied by loneliness, evil and crime .That’s terrible. Sometimes we always blame other’s strange action, but we don’t know why they act like that, in fact those people are very sensitive, they close their widow of soul. They prefer stand loneliness to be laughed and sometimes all of these people are clever and learned. They are always buried by the ordinary views .His mother was another kind of person ,she was forced by life , she suffered much from life, in Alexei’s mind she was just like an angel ,but just in his dream or his imagination, he was eager to live with his mother , he loved her and respected her . It was difficult for him to live through childhood to college student, just like a bird leave a blue clear sky to a dark cold valley. But he was brave to go into it, In fact; he is surprise with all the complex things. I wonder that why the author, write “universities, but not university .In fact he didn’t finish his college, to make living he left school. But I think that not a bad thing for him .He wandered between college and society, he clear he wanted knowledge, but he also needed money. The life was boring,
