——How to write a passage according to the cartoon

【试题概述】

高考英语考试说明书面表达部分第二节表述为：“要求考生根据所给情景，用英语写一篇100个单词左右的短文（山东卷为120—150词）。情景包括目的、对象、时间、地点、内容等；提供情景的形式有图画、图表、提纲等。”

从近几年高考试题来看，图画类作文占据了相当大的比重，当然主要是以记叙文为主。而漫画又是图画的表现形式之一，是一种具有强烈的讽刺性或幽默性的图画。画家从生活现象中取材，通过夸张、比喻、象征等手法，来讽刺、批评或表扬某些人和事。它与图画相比，更能够与社会现实紧密结合起来，具有一定的难度，在大学英语四六级考试和研究生英语入学考试中应用的较为广泛。同时在高考中出现的频率也越来越高，是高考写作的热点之一，例如在上海卷、北京卷及山东卷中都出现过漫画作文。

【作文特点】

1.试题命题特点

漫画作文的主要特点是生动、形象、直观、图文并茂。它要求考生在写作时做到主题明确，即文章能概括图画所反映的中心思想。

2.能力考查特点

漫画作文要求考生具有敏锐的观察力、丰富的想象力、严谨的逻辑思维能力、冷静的分析能力，以及最终将以上能力表达出来的书面表达能力。

【题材分析】

1.漫画作文内容上多为中学生日常生活中熟悉的经历，社会热点，具有一定的交流性、应用性、时代性、教育性。

2.“小视点、大话题”的漫画作文是最可能的命题形式。

3. 要注意作文的时效性，它所蕴涵的主题思想与现今的“以人为本”、“和谐社会”等热点词是一脉相通的。

【写作思路】

漫画作文一般可分为三个步骤，即：

1. Describe the drawing briefly

2. Explain its intended meaning and give examples (if necessary) 3. Give your own comments or opinions

各部分常用的表达

（一）描述漫画部分（漫画描述用一般现在时）：

Our earth used to be a beautiful place. Thick forests and green grass covered the hills and it was the best home for birds and animals. However, as time went by, people destroyed the forest to grow crops and let their cattle eat up the grass. So you can see a wasteland instead of green hills now. One possible version

The boy and the girl in the picture sat on a bench talking merrily while eating a water-melon. When they went away they left the melon’s skin on the bench, making it very dirty. They didn’t want to take any trouble throwing it into the dustbin although it was very near where they were sitting. Instead, they said that there would be someone who should clean the rubbish.

However, what they did violate public morality. If everyone behaves in this way, the world will be a big rubbish dump with flies flying round and people will live in a world of diseases. Besides, dustmen will have a very, very hard job to clean the world we live in.

someone making a phone call is drving his car crazily. Then, a man sees this and says he did the same thing the other day. Obviously, the badly injured man feel very sorrowful and regretful about what he did. I want to remind people to observe the traffic rules strictly. For one thing, it concerns the safety and happiness of all the people. For another, we should enforce the punishment on the traffic-rule-breakers, making them fully understand the great value of observing the rules.

If I were the injured man, I would report it to policeman in no time, hoping to stop the dangerous behavior. May all the people observe traffic rules for the sake of our safety.
